I'm Australian and thought they could be over the top sometimes, they were like the stereotypical Aussie but you're right Hercules sounded good.

Yeah fellow Aussie here too. The accents were a bit overboard at times...cringe worthy at best...had a really hard time trying to figure what the father was yelling at the end when he was giving commands out.

I love Del Toro but I wish he could show some variation in his creature designs,I mean they just looked like bigger versions of HellBoy's monsters.

Fav scenes was the stick fighting & fist fight.

I think they both sounded good at certain moments, but then other times it was just over the top.

According to del Toro there are nine Kaiju chosen and designed for the film, each one with its own personality and abilities. At least forty different Kaiju were designed in the process. Based on the silhouettes designed by the production team, del Toro would hold an "American Idol"-type contest and gradually eliminate the silhouettes they didn't like.[9] All Kaiju are based on familiar creatures in the real world, such as gorillas and sharks.[9] The very design of the Kaiju in the film are meant to reflect and pay homage to actors who donned suits to bring monsters such as Godzilla to life[9].

Or so they say

lol I had the same problem.

Oh the fist fight, that was hands down one of my favourite moments in the film.
It was a simple scene but it just made me love Raleigh as a character even more. I was surprised at how much of a nice guy his character was and I was like "YEAH APOLOGIZE!"

Well the point is Del T used the same creature designer as he did for Hellboy.
They looked liked the monsters HellBoy chased underground.

And why does Del T's boss monsters ALWAYS have to have tentacles?

Best fight scenes I've seen in awhile, best robot fight scenes ever- totally fantastic on that note. The soundtrack was also bitchin.

That said, the film would have benefited from a whoooole lot more robot fight scenes and a whoooole lot less White Male Fantasy.

The plot was weak, and relied too much on human stupidity and predictable movie cliches to not be annoying.

Characterization was awful, the characters were one-dimensional characatures (charlie day was so ****ing annoying) with predictable development.

Meh. As a brainless action film it was awesome. Considering who the director is though, I was expecting a little more.

Saw this film with my son and a friend.

I give it 3 out of 10.

It was 5 cheese wheels out of 5 cheese wheels: easily the cheesiest big-budget movie I have ever seen.

It was borderline horrible.

It was still enjoyable. It was worth a watch at least once.

As my friend put it, it was a movie written for 7-11 year old boys. My son loved the film. He's 9.

Sometimes, the one-liners were so bad that it almost made my cry. sad

Cheesefeast movie. CHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESE. Can't say that enough. The cheesiest cheese of Mt. Cheesen McCheeserton.

She's the Asian doll cliche' what did you expect.

With that said however I'm genuinely pissed that the movie makes a big deal on how Railegh or whatever the hell his name was needed a compatible partner yet when he gets one in Mako she's completely shafted for the most part.

Also I would like to mention that the guy from "It's always sunny in Philadelphia" plays the guy in "It's always sunny in Philadelphia" in a movie with giant robots/monsters no expression

Um... have you not seen his filmography? Mimic, Hellboy, Blade II... I wouldn't say he's had a history of great plots and characterization.

Dude, Mimic was his first Hollywood funded movie, even Del Toro admits he didn't have the cred or guts back then to stop execs butchering the film.
Blade 2....dealing with an a/hole of a star. Say no more.

Both HellBoys... fun rides.

Pan's Lab....brilliant plot & characterisation.

Since this film is a nod to all those old Toho films & other giant monster movies

they got the plot spot on.

You obviously don't watch It's Always Sunny if you think he played the same character.

Whoa, some harsh views on a film that wasn't that bad, i've seen movies a lot worse than this one.

To me, this movie is pretty easy to love. Maybe it's because I'm a huge anime fan and anything of the Japanese culture or maybe it's just because it's just an eyegasm to watch but it was a fun film.

I actually fell asleep during that last Transformers movie but yeah Pacific Rim is a glimpse of Del T's childhood fantasies, it's not meant to be analysed or spruced up for an Oscar...it's just simply pure eye candy entertainment.

And christ, which nerd in any of us would kill a granny to see our childhood fantasies revelled on the big screen?
