Well, it's kind of his thing. When Hulk is mad, it's notoriously difficult to settle him down unless you have someone that he or Banner considers important nearby, like Betty Ross.

Thanos for example could control his mind, but Thanos is, well, Thanos. But he is portrayed as being resistant to psychic/mind affecting powers, yeah.
Plus there's the fact that Hulk can smash Madara into paste with the first punch. Frankly, I find myself doubting Edo Tensei regeneration in the face of fists that can level countries.
Ahhh....I tend to stay away from comic book fights since I don't know much about so many different characters to the degree of most of the posters in the vs. forums. Just wanted to see if a genjutsu would be enough to control him.
Hulk breaks Madara into piece with a thunderclap and then place a mountain over his head. I don't think he will be able to regenerate under those conditions.
If you think he does, Hulk picks him up and then throws him into space.
Hulk has resisted possession before by Tyrannus, and Onslaught's psionics/mental control before IIRC. That would help against soul steal, I believe. He can also punch intangibles and demonic beings like Mephisto (he punched a "time storm" too, not sure what that is). So, he can win by smashing Madara's spirit.
Just to placate an idea here, what happens to you when Madara takes someone's soul?
As a side note, I always hate fictional "Soul Ripping". It always eases the mind of the Christian Mentality. You are your soul, it is not separate from you, so how can it be bought, stolen, ripped from you? Ridiculous fiction. Wouldn't it be better to just say "He makes them catatonic!!"
He can, if he wants the guy alive. He'll pull the guys soul out and throw it in the King of Hells mouth to use later. Doing this kills the guy momentarily though.
I feel like something of a hypocrite though since technically Madara hasn't done this technique yet. But the powers come from the Rinengan (the guys eyes) and he possesses the Rinengan and has used other Rinengan-specific powers as well.
