BIG announcement tomorrow at 6am apparently. IGNs going to announce first. Reasonably sure its a release date. I'm betting for a summer release like MGS4.
No, he always says "this is my final MGS" not that he will leave Konami. The fact that Kojima productions is gone, the LA branch has been renamed, and that he isn't listed among Konami's executives suggest he truly is gone.
Well, I did enjoy MGS4 a lot but never really liked the previous games. I hated the controls and didn't really enjoy the strangeness throughout.
But I do enjoy the overall story idea, the enemy characters (I think the MGS4 boss battles are amazing) and some of the cool art design they have for the gae. While Kojima leaving could ruin the franchise, it will be interesting to see the series becomes better with somebody new in charge.
I highly doubt it though considering the rumors is that Konami are going towards mobile (which ****ing sucks) and that will hire somebody less expensive.
"The Daemon lied with every breath. It could not help itself but to deceive and dismay, to riddle and ruin. The more we conversed, the closer I drew to one singularly ineluctable fact: I would gain no wisdom here."
On the other, that makes it sound like they'll kill it and run it into the ground.
Or maybe a new writer will actually give the games a fully coherent, non-convoluted story. A simple story could be good for MGS. Still, I'd miss Kojima.
I wonder how they'll manage to bring back Snake, if they do.
Yeah. I would say it's a wait and see approach when Konami makes a new game in the series without Kojima.
You never know, it might better. I always enjoyed Splinter Cells games a lot more than MGS. The stories are pretty simple but effective and I find moving Sam Fisher around a lot more enjoyable than Snake.
Man, I have been replaying MGS4 and holy shit am I bored.
I really hope MGS5 does not follow MGS4 that closely. It doesn't look like it but you never know.
Because Kojima was the "guy" in developing, maybe having him away from the series will help it. It's gotten extremely cinematic heavy (for no reason), story doesn't make any sense and is filled with 85% filler and the gameplay isn't as good as I remembered it. And seriously, the writing is ****ing garbage.
I never played any of the others. Well, I did play MGS when I was young and I enjoyed it. I tried to go back but I got annoyed with the controls.
I remember liking MGS4 a lot, especially the boss fights but there is something seriously off with the game. One issue is clearly the amount of crappy cutscenes. Act 3 is especially deplorable. I sat down to play and defeated Raven fairly quickly. The rest of the hour and a half was taken up by cutscenes and the ridiculous mission briefing that took forever to complete. I just completed Act 4 which wasn't as memorable as I thought and started Act 5 and remembered " oh yes, I will know need to hear the two lovebirds talk romance for 15 minutes while shooting guns" and then "oh, and the sequence in the microwave where you consistently hit a button". I think I'm done trying to beat the game because I just don't want to do it. It will take me at least two nights to beat it and I will only be playing for 20 minutes because there is still the ending sequence.
And in the end, the "sneaking" isn't really that great anyways. I much prefer the Splinter Cell series. There is so many areas where I'm like, "why can't I ****ing climb this thing or jump an extra foot".....
Meh, I disagree. I loved the actual stealth in MGS4 and thought it blew away SC (the newer ones anyway). I loved the octosuit and how fun it was to mess around with all the tech and weapons and enemies. I love MGS4 to death. I don't even mind the cut-scenes considering how well done they all were. We'll have to agree to disagree there
Though SC: Chaos Theory is one of the greatest stealth games ever created.
