I realized all of this minutes after playing MGS3. And I liked MGS3.

I bet 50% of those reviews would be taken back if they reviewed it again.
It's not a great game and it hasn't aged well. The entire 3rd act is crap and with the Dresden shop and octocamo, entire sections can be completed without any skill.
Pretty much the only people who liked MGS4 are fanboys who like all the MGS games and would have paid $70 for Ground Zeros if given the chance.

Actually, it was just about everyone else that liked it.
I go to the forums, and the majority of the fanbase hates MGS4. They are also the second worst fanbase I've ever been a part of (Silent Hill forums being the worst). Everyone else, as evidenced by the many glowing reviews, highly disagrees with you.
Well of course they do, not everyone can have my exemplary taste in vidya.

You get to play the same area but instead of picking up some kid, you get to disable anti aircraft guns! And it's at daytime so even more awesome...!!!

I was looking forward to the multiplayer but now this news of microtransactions make it look a little less appealing now and with Konami jumping from console to maining mobile like giving the finger as you leave before a bomb goes off, Kojima's departure is becoming more justifiable.
