Another thing that annoys me is the credits between main missions. Why? They don't do anything except spoiling interesting encounters.
For instance, the Honey Bee mission. It's a cool mission. Inflitrate (or try to inflitrate and then it become a warzone like I did), pick the device up and start to leave through a maze of tunnels (which was done really well).
But guess what, I knew exactly was going to happen next because the ****ing game told me who was part of the mission in the intro sequence. I know the parasite dudes show up with Skullface and I had a very good idea that it will happen when I moved into this conveniently placed open area after picking up the launcer. It's so ****ing stupid. I can't understand why in the world they would add a title sequence that tells you all the units that will be present in the mission.
Are they trying to be like a TV episode? Maybe. If it was, it's dumb because the game doesn't play like a TV episode. Or is just to pander to Kojima ego....probably.
It's stupid and it ruins any sort of surprised you have.

I don't know, I don't really have any trouble getting it to go where I want, and I like how it feels like it actually has weight to it, like I'm actually steering an animal and not sharing some sort of psychic link that gets the horse to move where I tell it to perfectly.
I just find the speed of the horse out of whack. It's super slow or crazy fast that jumps from huge cliffs. I need a medium pace where I can move my horse around the thousand little rocks while sneaking by the various guard posts.
And when you going to fast, you can't go to slow pace easily but instead of having to stop the horse and then go.
Yeah. In all honesty I prefer the old style of simply getting new guns as the story went on.
The game is not bad at all and in fact its pretty god damn good, but its very different from all other MGS. I guess that's whats bothering me.
DD is so much better than the horse. I'm beginning to enjoy the game a lot more since DD grew up. Also...wow Quiet is absolutely stunning and a powerhouse. Can't wait to see what happens next.

I was never a huge MGS fan so this game feels pretty damn cool to me. I'm enjoying and there is a lot of skill that made this game.
Also, I enjoy how it's a game and dole our cutscenes at a smaller rate. I enjoy them and they are generally quite excellent. It goes to show its not about the amount of scenes but the quality of them. For instance, in the Honey Bee mission, there would of been a cutscenes for entering the fort, finding the weapon, leaving the fort and then the big reveal. And it would taken an hour to do that.
I'll reserve judgement on where this game stands on my MG hierarchy until I beat the game, but honestly it will probably end up being #1 once I get over the things that annoy me.
Incredibly solid GOTY candidate. Its going to be either this or Fallout 4.

Yeah, it's turning into a solid candidate. It's hard to say but Witcher 3 might be better. There is definitely a few less things that annoy me and I feel the gameplay of Phantom Pain could get a bit tedious if the don't start mixing things up. For Witcher 3, it was definitely not the case. I get a huge Far Cry 3/4 vibe from this game and I was getting a bit tired of that type of formula.
Also, wouldn't it kill them to add some rock climbing mechanic? It seems this game would be tailored made for it. Hell, it would be a cool thing to do is to climb something and have the ability to put in a rope thingy (I dont know what they are called) so you can constantly use them if a side op takes you there.
They can design an arm to shoot rockets out of it but the research can't give some rope and harnesses?
Yeah, and I'm surprised there isn't many shortcuts to go around these things. Slightly annoying, especially on missions where you need to travel a fair distance.
I was free roaming around doing side ops when I randomly entered and started the boss fight against quiet. I had nothing but a tranq gun and a silenced rifle, so she had the obvious advantage with her abilities and sniper. DD evened the playing field though. He would sniff her out and find her, and then I'd just have to sneak up with my tranq a couple of times for a nonlethal kill. F*cking epic hunt.
Man, the save system is bunked. I did 3 of those gun range side ops on Mother Base. Took me half an hour or so to travel to various locations and whatever. I assumed the game saved after each side op. I called in the helicopter to extract me and because I was "online" the game wouldn't go past the loading screen to get into the ACC. I quit the game and started up.
And guess what, the game took me back to start on mother base before I did anything. Why in the world would they not save after each completed side mission. Every other game does that. I have no idea when save system will kick in. On one mission, it saved every two seconds but another, it didn't save at all during the mission. Witcher 3 had a good system in place. It autosaved at key moments and you can save whenever you want. It worked perfectly.
It seems I'm ragging on the game but some parts of the game are very frustrating. Considering the core gameplay is extremely solid and the presentation is very good but its the small things that are driving me insane.
For instance, I'm allowed to automatically extract to the ACC when on the map (a good thing) but when I'm at mother base, I have to call in the chopper to extract to ACC. Why can't I skip right to the ACC when I'm in the helicopter instead of watching for the 50th time flying around the platform?. I must of wasted about 20 minutes of my life watching the same thing. Also, why are the platforms so ****ing far apart that it takes about 5 minutes just get there? (it's not like it's loading anything). I thought I save time by calling the heli and moving between platforms but it still takes forever because it takes a route that makes you look at the platform and does a fly by around it. It didn't save anytime at all!

My problem with the game is that everything feels like a fkn chore and youre barely given any hints to get through things. Its I dunno. Annoying. This is the first mgs havent beaten in 2 days of cmpulsive playing and the first lne where I just say **** it and pass the controller.
