This is a complex song in which many ABBA themes converge. We find sleep, even death. The angel is the fading recollection of the ABBA years. The ticking of the clock symbolizes passing time and the relentless changes it brings, a mingling of past and present. "Like An Angel Passing Through My Room" is the last song on "The Visitors," ABBA's final studio album, and there is a noticeable lack of warmth. We sense anxiety, the funny tricks of time and resignation.

The long awaited end is here. Frida is alone in the twilight, and there are shadows. She is by the fireplace trying to keep warm as the dying embers of the ABBA fire still provide some heat. It is peaceful as ABBA's touring days are over and the outside world of hysterical fans no longer intrudes. She remembers, almost like Bob Seger in "Night Moves." The love she and Benny Andersson once shared is now perceived as "one prolonged goodbye." Their love was an angel passing through her room only to disappear. Frida is not sure if she is awake or dreaming. She finally closes her eyes, and all memories fade. Life is short. This may be Frida's premonition of her deathbed. The music box adds to her sadness.
