I hope that's not the majority of the film. We see that it acts differently in different circumstances, though seemingly the only time that was a positive was when then Engineer ingested it and died to seed the planet at the beginning.
I wonder if there will ever be a direct answer as to why they seeded earth and left for so long, and as to if the faction planning to return to wipe out the planet was a splinter group or simply one acting on orders of the Engineer hierarchy.
Just keep the 'wtf, are you serious?' moments out of this film and it will be what it should be. No petting space cobras, no "where are yous" when their transponders are showing on the giant 3d map. Keep it real.
Yes, of course we are. Because we already know that Ridley has a third movie in mind. No one complained about that with LOTR or the Harry Potter series (8 f#cking movies?? That 6th one was a total waste of time). So it really just comes down to the question of: is this a world you want to enter? Because so many series are getting stretched out to milk it for everything it's worth. I don't think that there is really any wasted time in Prometheus, though. Everything either progresses the story, is exciting or horrific, or hints at the nature of a certain character or event (Ridley even deleted some really good stuff for pacing, etc). I think a simple trilogy is perfectly reasonable, and Ridley is of course savvy enough and artistic enough not to want to stretch this out forever. I am thinking that the next movie is going to have kind of a detective story feel to it, because she is going to be on a mission to figure out what the hell is going on. And no, it's probably not going to be completely revealed by the end of the 2nd one because that would ruin the suspense. And I don't expect much to be explained plainly, either, because that is part of what makes Prometheus enjoyable to watch again and again: it's not easy to figure out. It's a little puzzling so each time you watch it, you start thinking about what the hell is going on... gives it an important mystique to surround the mythology. But don't get me wrong, I think we will get plenty more hints and clues, but no, probably not very many hard answers. It's meant to be a puzzle. Prometheus even starts out with a Rubiks Cube...

Which is why I think it is involved in their spiritual practices, a self-destructive act of creation. That's how they seed planets. But it's apparently also a weapon... but for what purpose they would want to create an entire planet of monsters, I don't know.. or maybe everything on the planet would eventually kill each other and the planet would start anew.
Well, I tend to subscribe to the Space Christ theory, heh, but you know...
...now that is the sort of answers I think we are likely to get. I wonder if she is going to come across some 'higher-ups' and potentially get some explanations. They posted this badass concept art many months ago (attached below, entitled "Ancient Gods"). I wonder if he is an Engineer leader of some sort, or perhaps a religious leader. But yeah, we obviously don't know jack-shit about the Engineer homeworld, customs, way of life, etc. So we will no doubt find out about them in the next film.
The engineers are far more interesting than the aliens anyways. I'm glad they won't try to connect back to them for a few more films. We will have alien five anyways. Let this be about the engineers.
Yeah, I don't understand that either. We've seen xenomorphs up the wazoo... and they've never really gotten better. Sequels were good, but really more for nostalgia than anything else. I like a little nostalgia, too, but I much prefer a whole new mysterious and epic mythology, which the Engineers I think will more than provide.
Whoa, nice find. I had had always read that it was envisioned as 3 films... I guess they might try to stretch it out into 4 films depending on if it has enough steam or not? Hm.. I'd prefer 3 really solid films instead of trying to stretch it out and making it suffer in the process.
He will be returning. And I think his head will even be reattached!
