Claims you've made 'Khan has superior combat instincts to...well just about every one from every film ever'
Now let's see what that's based on. In the fight against the Klingons he fights from a slightly elevated position open from all sides and just sprays fire everywhere and thanks to some of the most severe PiS in film history rather than his own superiority doesn't get killed.
Once on board the Vengeance his tactic for reaching the bridge consisted of 'lets not run down this wide corridor. Let's run down this narrow corridor 10 feet from the wide one and hope we're not noticed.
Once he gets beat his tactic seems to be get angry and crash the ship into a building then run away.
Master tactician at work there.
You've tried to argue on that showing that he would beat genuinely superhuman level abilities across a number of characters from a number of films despite being shown time and time again with huge numbers of screen feats and your defence against them seems to consist of 'well if I haven't seen them then they don't exist'
There's only 1 fanboy talking in this thread and it's not me.
know you're easily confused so I'll make it clear. It's you!
Blinded by your biased/trolling. Sad really.
But yes, back to the topic at hand. This film looks like it's going back to Pitch Black because it's superior in every way that matters for a character like Riddick.
Some of you are trying to reduce it to something simple and easy, when it isn't quite so simple...
First of all, if people were expecting PB2 (which I don't think is true), then they're idiots, because Twohy said he didn't want to do something so similar, he said he wanted to expand the mythology, have a bit more imagination with it (which is a good thing). Most good writers/directors don't like to rehash things they've already done. And the trailers reflected the expanded mythology quite obviously. Secondly, a character of this nature (dark, antihero) will almost always have a smaller following because it's not going to have a wide appeal to very many demographics (it's mainly going to be males between the ages of 18 to 30-something with a darker slant in taste). And thirdly, the genre of science fiction is a bit of a niche market, especially with darker subject matter like Riddick has. The epic space opera is an especially rare form of science fiction, but it does have a tendency to breed loyal fans, so I think that Riddick actually does have a very solid fanbase at this point, so as long as they keep the budget reasonable, they should be safe to continue the series, especially considering the profits made from DVD/blu-ray sales. I bet that DVD/blu-ray sales of CoR is largely what kept it sparkling in studio exec's eyes. Also, that fact that Vin Diesel worked for scale on the new film shows the kind of passion that this character inspires. He loves the character, it shows, and consequently it has captured many loyal fans.
So "derpy-derp it sucked.." Oh, what eloquence. Stfu.
Do you always read up on what a director was hoping to accomplish BEFORE you go watch a film?
In the end, the fans spoke and he listened to them, why the 3rd film is looking a lot more like PB and not CoR. Which is a good start, though I still have little hope for this; hoping I'm pleasantly surprised by the end of the film though.
They would have no doubt liked to make CoR with an R-rating, but that's not the nature of the business. And they're not forgetting that CoR happened, so prepare yourself accordingly.
