It seems to me that Shepherd would tear up High Street, but then I can see low meta tearing him up, too. Hard call.

To be voted on:
Does Fi, the Master Sword, deserve to be listed as a character?

Arguments for: Sentient, and clearly very powerful, with many good feats to her name.

Arguments against: Sattelite character, equipment, broke our hearts.

No for reasons why the IG, Saba, Mjolnir and other items aren't listed. If it can act and move on it's own and do things without someone wielding it then sure.

She can act on her own to an extent, but she can't swing herself that's been shown.

Two for no.

Hm.. If she can't do anything under her own power, even if she made the list wouldn't she be in the lowest tier anyhow?

Can't do that to her sad

She can do things, just not swing herself.

I mostly wanted to include her for meta comparisons, like we did with The Master Sword v.s. The Soul Reaver way back in VGVS.

Three for no, then?

Not a no, just that theres little she can do under here own power just by lying there. Could add her as Fi, but we'd need the feats that Fi is shown to actively do under her own will.

She required no wielder to break Zant's spell, absorb Demise' consciousness, freeze time, or to dance. And she is a good dancer.

Also, I was thinking of using her more for meta comparisons. Weapon v.s. Weapon 'which is more _____'. Kind of deal.

A weapon/artifact tier list would be better. Right now just putting one item in there would confuse more.

Iffy on the time thing being something she can actively do whenever, but will give the absorption and radiating anti-evilness. Though on the tier list, that wouldn't get her far.

..give her a boost up for the dancing though.

I'll remove her from mid herald for the time being, but I'm putting her in OMEGA SHENRON TIER.

Resuming relevant discussion.

To start, the game does a pretty good job of defining itself through the use of codex entries. Most of them are listed in the link concerning prevalent technology, but one of the most important entries is the one concerning "Element Zero", or "Eezo" for short.

quote: (post)
When subjected to an electrical current, the rare material dubbed element zero, or "eezo", emits a dark energy field that raises or lowers the mass of all objects within it. This "mass effect" is used in countless ways, from generating artificial gravity to manufacturing high-strength construction materials. It is most prominently used to enable faster-than-light space travel. Eezo is generated when solid matter, such as a planet, is affected by the energy of a star going supernova. The material is common in the asteroid debris that orbit neutron stars and pulsars. These are dangerous places to mine, requiring extensive use of robotics, telepresence, and shielding to survive the incredible radiation from the dead star. Only a few major corporations can afford the set-up costs required to work these primary sources. Humanity discovered refined element zero at the Prothean research station on Mars, allowing them to create mass effect fields and develop FTL travel.

Eezo is the phlebotinum that powers every high end technological advancement in the series, including biotics. An expanded look on Eezo can be found here.

The titular "Mass Effect" is generated from Eezo, as noted in this codex entry:

quote: (post)
Element zero can increase or decrease the mass of a volume of space-time when subjected to an electrical current. With a positive current, mass is increased. With a negative current, mass is decreased. The stronger the current, the greater the magnitude of the dark energy mass effect. In space, low-mass fields allow FTL travel and inexpensive surface-to-orbit transit. High-mass fields create artificial gravity and push space debris away from vessels. In manufacturing low-mass fields permit the creation of evenly-blended alloys, while high mass compaction creates dense, sturdy construction materials. The military makes extensive use of mobility enhancing technologies, with mass effect utilizing fighting vehicles standard front-line issue in most military forces. Mass effect fields are also essential in the creation of kinetic barriers or shields to protect against enemy fire.

Again, an expanded view on it can be found here.

I'll post more later on."

Evidence for Commander Shepard (Continued)

With the source of technology explained, we can now look deeper into how the citizens of the galaxy, primarily humans, applied it.

Since a previous entry mentioned kinetic barriers, let's look at what the codex says about them in particular.

quote:
Kinetic barriers, colloquially called "shields", provide protection against most mass accelerator weapons. Whether on a starship or a soldier's suit of armor, the basic principle remains the same. Kinetic barriers are repulsive mass effect fields projected from tiny emitters. These shields safely deflect small objects traveling at rapid velocities. This affords protection from bullets and other dangerous projectiles, but still allows the user to sit down without knocking away their chair. The shielding afforded by kinetic barriers does not protect against extremes of temperature, toxins, or radiation.

This entry specifies personal shields, naturally, and they are a supplement to the age old standard of proper body armor:

quote:
Combat hard-suits use a dual-layer system to protect the wearer. The inner layer consists of fabric armor with kinetic padding. Areas that don't need to be flexible, such as the chest or shins, are reinforced with sheets of lightweight ablative ceramic. The outer layer consists of automatically-generated kinetic barriers. Objects traveling above a certain speed will trigger the barrier's reflex system and be deflected, provided there is enough energy left in the shield's power cell. Armored hard-suits are sealable to protect the wearer from extremes of temperature and atmosphere. Standard equipment includes an onboard mini-frame and a communications, navigation, and sensing suite. The mini-frame is designed to accept and display data from a weapon's smart targeting system to make it easier to locate and eliminate enemies.

This expanded entry on armor adds a few new points, some game mechanic specific information, and demonstrates the variety of armor available in the verse, as various business and military entities manufacture their own types of armor.

I don't think it matters which Shepard you use. Neither will exceed Low Meta, but I can't see them dropping beneath that either. Even without biotics, he is still Meta. Cyborg doesn't have powers, only tech, but he's still Meta. I think that counts for something. Tech can still contend with biotics, after all.

As for Fi, as much as I hate to say it, I'm gonna have to say no. She may be powerful, but she can't wield herself, and thus should not be ranked. Otherwise, what the hell would she need Link for?!

Sengoku Basara Hideyoshi, mid or high meta?

Most notable feats of strength are punching away the sea and castle busting. The force of the air causes by moving his arm caused rock to reconfigure.

Looks more powerful than Kenshiro to my eye, I would say he's comfortably high meta.

I'm also willing to cast my vote for Shepherd to be low meta, which I believe makes Xan, Ares, Myself, Sacred117 for low meta Shepherd.
