No, the gods did that to try and keep him in check. It didn't work, of course. What he did do was bring about permanent night time and storms, while weakened.

Sauron doesn't even have a body so lets not act like he's even act like he's close to full power at this point. Gandalf was soundly defeated despite facing off against Sauron minus a body. Sauron is the baddest being out there from Peter Jackson's films.

Sorta. He escaped the seal left by the sages, and even killed them, but he couldn't stop Fi from pinning down the bulk of his power, rendering him a much less potent threat than he would have otherwise been, but being basically unstoppable without returning his full power, catch 22.

'regardless of their protection', I had a good laugh at this, thank you, Neph.
AK has no noteworthy feats, has never killed anyone with any modicum of defense, is too slow to matter, and too weak to effect Ganon. If Voldemort's lucky Ganon won't backhand it back at him.

The wizarding world has never found a defense against it other than twu wuv, and they've pulled off crazy magical shit. Time travel, rapid aging, transfiguration, giving objects sentience, monitoring entire countries, censoring certain words, etc etc. Hell, they have a door into the afterlife and they still can't block it.
Feats and what not back me up. Not a durability attack and it kills those it hits. Dorf can resist durability attacks within reason. Mort also destroyed a shield hundreds of wizards were assaulting for minutes in a few moments after they pissed him off.
I just said in your opinion. You believe breaking an already damaged shield with the durability feats coming from the weak wizards attack is above things like the castle busting, which you will go on to say never happened unless the last thread swayed your opinion. Guess Scene could fill me in there.
Then to think that despite holding resistance and magical durability, that a simple killing curse will instantly win. So yes, by your take on things.
