i loved it, and because of the philosophical aspect i enjoyed it more then the first. i really like that twist at the end, about "the 1" and zion. almost as good as a twist as the first film.

I loved the first one. The concept is great. I'm going to see it this weekend. I hope they don't make Neo that superhuman. I dont like the idea that He flys around. I'm not as excited to see this as I was for X2.

Should be good though.

The Matrix just pretends to be smart. All them fan boys are always saying "Oh you didn't like it because you didnt get it!" whats not to get? It's not a "brilliant film!" like all those nerds are making it out to be. The movie is frickn simple to understand! People dont dislike the film because they dont understand it- the movie just sucks more than a gay monkey does. As for RELOADED...I'll see it just to see the Kill Bill trailer on the big screen.

oh, such a harsh opinion. I'm sure you wouldn't have it if the movie wouldn't so discussed.
I admit the first one wasn't THAT good...but it's one of those movies i like to watch over and over even though i know thy're not extraordinary.
Some good cgis..and original storyline...they sum up fine. hope i'll like the next ones.

Now, i realise the plot i deea is pretty simple but you'd be surprised to hear that i have seen ppl who didn't understand it. smile

oh..i'm not sure why they picked keanu for the role in the first place. He has a good appearance for the role but i can think of better. i mean..he has a belly! he's almost ...well....chubby. Check out sweet november if ya don't belive me..yuckhsick

well the film i agree may not be brilliant but the creativity it took to come up with the story line and tie it all together is border line brilliance in my book. i agree that there wasnt much depth to the first film once you got past the whole livin in computer program but the second film is a lot deeper and dips into some pretty philosophical ideas. people are probably going to harp on me for saying that, but i felt the second film was better because of those ideas.
as far as people not getting it, well there are some out there. me and a few friends had the pleasure of watching the second one last night and one of my friends whenever there was a fight seen or neo was flying he would jerk back in his seat and mumble to me "that is so fake, that could never happen". i would say that is one person who dont get it.

i'm right with ya, turin!

i agree that the movie is better than the first because of the philosophical ideas. the only way it doesn't par up to the first is, in this one, we know what's goin on.....er...well, we know that humanity has been enslaved my machines. in the first one, it was the idea that you had no clue what was going on that kept the movie going.

So now we THINK we know what's goin on in this movie, but wait! no! it gets messed up again on us! is he really "the one"?! or is he the "the one" version 6.0? what was up with him and the sentinal? what was up with the french dude? and all of the other new characters introduced of which we don't know their "purpose"? I need to see the movie way more than once to get a good grasp of it.

And Ush, don't worry, while there is a lot of philosophy, there's also a lot of ass kicking physics defying kung fu action, and the movie, at least so far (don't know about revolutions) isn't completely dependant on the philosophy. I didn't get what exactly they were talking about ( I SO need to watch it over and over again) but it's not terribly important to the plot. the wachowski bros did a good job with that. you don't have to think yourself to death to enjoy the movie. thinking about all of it though, makes you enjoy it even more!

Ok I've seen it.

It has its highs and lows.
Same goes for the special effects. The fight scene where Neo is fighting the 100 agent Smiths started off really good and quickly turned into a PS2 cut-scene.embarrasment

Also the scene towards the end when[SPOILER - highlight to read]: Neo resurrects Trinity was dumb and gay beyond belief.

There is too much philosophical mumbo jumbo. You need cliffs notes just to understand half the crap. It left me confused beyond belief.

And those 2 white twin dudes are the Darth Maul of 2003. They are featured in every preview, but only appear for a short period and then [SPOILER - highlight to read]: die so crappy.

It has it moments, but part I was much better. This one was just total over kill. Every ten minutes something blows up. Gets old really fast.

To Tex.

Tex: why is the scene at the end so "gay"? Neo, by right of being "The One", is supposed to be able to manipulate the matrix to do his bidding, even on the cellular or molecular level. No offense but the only thing gay about that scene at the end is your dislike for it.

Oh, and as far as all the philosophical "mumbo jumbo" goes, remember that the true strength of The Matrix films--the thing that is going to immortalize them--is NOT the action scenes ONLY, but those coupled with the depth of the story...and that depth is mostly philosophical "mumbo jumbo." Pick up a book, my friend...and try reading it.

[SPOILER - highlight to read]: And the twins didn't die. They were quite obvoiusly alive as they were blown sky high from the wreckage of Escalade that Morpheus annihilated. And if they can survive gunshots and swords, they'll surely survive an explosion or two. Don't be so "gay."

depth of the story??????? thats why I thought Matrix sucked because of the weak ass story. They tried to be sophisticated in their story but failed big time. It got way to complex for some and laugable poor for others

Problem is my brother knows his philosophy and no Hollywood film treatment of the subject is going to impress him.

The Matrix isn't realy THAT clever, what it had was STYLE, and it was this style that defeated all accusations of it being ripped-off and weak. It achieved in the same way A New Hope achieved- not with fantastically original ideas or concepts, but in the style, execution and cool characters.

And it was Keanu's perfect film role seeing as most of it just had to involve him looking confused all the time. And then hitting people. That's pretty much all he can do.

No film had ever had all these concepts- which appeal to the student and young adult in any case- presented with such smooth panache. This was the secret of its success and if the sequel does the same there will be no problems.

it's funny because it's true!

the movie was great, and if you don't feel the same way, that's fine. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Just because someone feels differently doesn't mean that you have to put them down.

Tex, i was clapping throughout the entire movie, just FYI
