Actually I've only seen about 5 episodes of Star Trek in my life (granted they were the best ones, like, pardon the pun, "Best of Both Worlds"), but I know when something is trying to be intellectual and when it's trying to be mindless stupidity, and a large appeal of ST is it's scientific accuracy; to do away with that with bullshit about galaxy-destroying supernovae just means they don't give a phuck about the franchise and just want to sell tickets to the lowest common denominator.

While it's not completely devoid of intellectual themes, and it does have a lot of good suspense and emotion, it lacks the..."scientific focus" of the other series. TOS and TNG were supposed to be a realistic (fantastical of course, but believable), optimistic look at humanity's future and the technology and landscapes the universe has in store. These new films are just quick popcorn suspense films, like an action movie that just happens to be set in the future. They don't seem interested in showing the audience a possible future, just exciting them with suspense, and while there's absolutely nothing wrong with just wanting to excite the audience, it just rings hollow and superficial considering the source material, with a goal leaning more towards gaining audience's cash rather than showing them a possible bright future, which is arguably the thing that made the series so popular in the first place.
That's not how most everyone comes across. Everyone comes across as borderline ragey when falling for Quanchi's mind games...not the "troll the troll" like you claim, which is what I do and do well.
Bottom-line, if you and others weren't falling for his supposed trolling, you would simply not respond. No matter how you try to spin your falling for his game, you are still fell for his game.
Jesus, its like you guys have turned trolling into a sport. I cant even tell when someone is trolling or not, which means I either need to spend more time on the internet, or less.

Nobody feels guilty that we are making Quan happy by mocking him, because wanting to be mocked is pitiful goal, and one that in and of itself should be mocked. I'll insult Quan with no qualms whatsoever. If he wants to be a masochist, I have no trouble giving him pain.
Who the phuck invited you to this conversation? I'll humor your pathetic desire to sound intelligent. http://www.metacritic.com/movie/star-trek
The reboot was well received
And the part where I point to meticulous fans of the original Start Trek is a conclusion of SUBJECTIVE analysis. Which means it's my opinion. I'm sorry I didn't realize this was a professional debate forum where I have to post evidence to support all my opinions.
"Everyone comes across as borderline ragey when falling for Quanchi's mind games...not the "troll the troll" like you claim..."
It's pretty clear he's getting the best of almost all of you.
And when I troll trolls, it is not the same as what Epicurius' is talking about. For Quanchi's game, "beating" him in an argument is definitely not how you "troll the troll." That's how you lose.
By the way, I retract what I said about Firefly: I broke down and watched it on Netflix all the way through. I also watched Serenity afterwards. It was pretty good. Also, I didn't like it that Wash died.
I think it's pretty clear he fails a lot of the time at Trolling's #1 rule. "Don't be the one to get mad/upset/frustrated", which is what he tries to instill in others with his antics.
Just have to agree to disagree I guess. As it's circular and the subject matter at hand is dull to beging with.
Well, I think I'm a broken record, at this point. I've said, now, for 2 years that the best way to handle Quanchi is not respond. Sure, that's the classic way to handle a troll but none of you can resist him.
Sometimes, I don't think any parties are trolling and you all genuinely are getting worked up over the topics.
there is no reason to become upset and lash out at someone for pointing out the simple fact that you were asserting your wishful and evidence-free pseudo-statistic as fact
no, nobody is getting paid to debate stuff here. however as with most human interactions, there is a general unspoken agreement to utilize logic, reason, and evidence when making a point. instead of becoming unhinged with infantile rage.
oh my. does someone need some butthurt cream?

What statistic did I assert, exactly? I simply claimed that many fans of the original Star Trek movies dislike the reboots. That's a generalization, not a fact.
WTF do you mean unspoken agreement? Here on kmc is considered casual human interaction, not formal. Nobody here gets docked for not formally outlining evidence with credible citations to corroborate their point.
I've already wasted enough time replying to your stupidity. BTW, you can keep the butthurt cream. You'll need it with the massive butt rapings you routinely receive.
