I have to disagree with Stuckmann on this and a lot of other potential opinions about the characters having little depth. Marlowe and Packward were both great characters with cool backstories, and the set pieces were a nice callback to stuff like Temple of Doom, Apocalypse Now, and the Seventies setting was cool. Overall, I liked it slightly more than Godzilla and was actually surprised at how good it was even if some of the characters were cannon fodder. Marlow and Samuel L's character made the film, and seeing Kong go to town was also cool. Its going to take a lot of effort for me to believe that he could pose a challenge to 2014 Zilla though

No, it isn't. Kong is a lot smarter in combat than Zilla and has impressive strength. He has decades to grow and can actually strategize in combat unlike Zilla. Kong is going to **** him up. This Zilla bs has got to stop. The guy beat the adult skull crawler with one arm and protecting the human whore in the other.
Yeah, I was annoyed with Stuckmann on this one, too. While I sort of agree that Hiddleston and Larson's characters were lacking in depth, it didn't really hurt the film because there were others, like you said, with interesting backstories and the film is just so much fun that who gives a fu#k? Hell, even Kong himself had some depth... defending his territory, saving that big animal crushed by the helicopter, and having some sort of connection to the woman, Brie Larson's character. But the film had such a fun adventure quality, I mean, goddamn the skullcrawlers scene in their bone-filled graveyard was badass.
Its a character in a film you loser. You are suchan drama queen but you have nothing in life so this isn't surprising. March to my drum you lonely loser.
I wouldn't mind seeing a sequel to this. There's got to be more fun creatures to discover on that island. Might be hard to justify returning to the island, though..
Well next up is Zilla two and then Kong vs. Zilla. My only worry is something derails even these plans if the movies don't justify enough of a profit to do so.
Kong is the true king so if Zilla shows up he isn't king. We only have the facts and your opinion is only subjective. Intelligence and strength matter. Just wait and see.
Saw KSI today. Really good stuff. Well-paced with fun characters, great fight scenes. Loved the Monsterverse-building, as well as the subtle nods to the original '33 flick.
