Many movies have been ruined by the way they've been marketed or even lack of. Millions are spent on marketing alone & directors don't even get a say on how their own movies should be promoted.
This is ridiculous, since when do we take posts on Reddit seriously. Some ppl are grasping at straws, reserve judgement until credible reviews come in or you've seen it yourself.
Lol is your girlfriend like really looking forward to this movie or something? I think you know in your gut how the reviews are going to turn out.

I didn't like the trailers and I'm not too excited, but I still hope it's good. The assholes rooting for this movie to fail and boycotting it because there's 4 women instead of 4 men make me a bit frustrated.
What frustrates me is that people seem to think this is about the fact females were cast. A majority of people I have seen who dislike this film just think it looks terrible. They don't have a problem with the fact females were cast as the leads. We had a female lead in the recent Star Wars and nobody freaked out.
The backlash comes due to two main reasons: people think it looks like shit and due to people getting pissed when people act like the only reason people dislike this film is due to misogyny.
It's not, it's because it looks awful. The specific females they chose aren't even that funny. But the media tries to spin this like it's due to misogyny. So now when the movie fails people have a built in excuse as to why: sexism.
I also admit I am actually rooting for it to fail now. Before I just thought it looked terrible, but now the people who react with the implication this is mostly due to misogyny have made me hope the movie fails. Oh and also because I know there are people rooting for this to be a huge hit merely for the fact they made females the lead characters. Which IMO is just as wrong as wishing for the movie to fail due to women being in it.
They didn't choose to put women in these roles because the best actors for the job just happened to be female. I didn't think a remake of this movie needed to be made, but if they were going to do it I at least hoped they'd do it right. Except they didn't do that..mostly due to PC bullshit. In this day and age some people have the very very wrong idea that swapping a characters gender or race is somehow edgy or somehow improves the quality of the film. If we learn anything from Ghostbusters it should be to knock this shit out. But we won't because I can already guarantee you that no matter what if this fails some people will just blame misogyny.

I think it looks bad and I don't think it was a good idea. I'm one of those people. But you have to admit if it was similarly bad with 4 men the outcry wouldn't be nearly as severe. I'm pretty sure people like you don't fall in this category, but I've seen countless comments by guys being openly misogynistic. And then there's idiots who just lump normal folks who didn't like it in with the misogynists. But you can't deny the misogynists exist and are an incredibly vocal and influential minority.
Like I said a few pages back it's not that it's females as the leads, it's the fact that the movie looks shit...plain and simple. Fuck Paul Feig for saying that's why people don't like it.
I think Ghostbusters is so beloved that whether men or women people would be pissed off if it was awful.
I actually don't think the misogynists are a very influential minority, especially in regard to this. Why? Because I think that the "feminists" that act like a majority of this stems from misogyny are also quite influential, right? I think that cancels out any influence misogynists would have, especially because women in general tend to be given more free passes when it comes to..well, almost anything in this country. Whether it's crime or sexism or whatever.

Okay yes it's great, but you're acting like I was just having some one sided discussion with myself lol.
Was that supposed to dismiss what I said? Or agree with it? Or what? You feel misogynists have more influence than feminists? Or what? I'm confused.

Or maybe we just don't give about what you think about the movie at this point, You've clearly made your decision about the movie even tho you haven't actually seen the finished product.
That is fine but again you act like I was having some one sided discussion with myself about this. You act like nobody else mentioned the controversy over the movie.
The movie hasn't come out yet so all we have to judge it by are the trailers. It's fine if you watched the trailers and thought they were okay..a lot of people disagree.
So yes I've made my decision about the movie, but it doesn't mean I'd be unwilling to change. If the movie comes out and is a big hit and gets great reviews then I would certainly give it a chance.
