I thought somewhere way back (maybe even mentioned in one of the handbooks) that uru was said to be strong but not indestructible, but it was extremely good material for holding enchantments.

the more enchantments the stronger it is. uru has been shattered by hitting it with nitrogen. on its own uru isn't that great.
