Why is Steam charging for Derek Smart public domain games?
Forget the fact nobody wants to buy Universal Combat 2.0, it's the principle of charging for a freeware game.

Not the best game, but something different. Probably better if you could get someone to couch coop it with you.

On the other hand, 20 dollars is probably way too much to pay for a retro style game that could have been built on Flash for free.

I'm currently on hiatus but I just wanna say thats BS.
Shovel Knight is easily one of the best looking retro games ever, and shovel knight itself is filled with content that would make most of the other retro-style games you play look small.
Most of the negative reviews about play control must be using an Xbox controller. For something like this, I use my trusty PS2 controller. (Ducktales Remastered is a nightmare on the 360 in certain sections, especially with the classic retro style control scheme).

Honestly, the main thing holding me off was the Kickstarter shenanigans I heart about on the Steam boards. Something about the stretch goals being paid for by the backers, yet they raised prices on the new comers, which seemed like "double dipping" to some backers (Because they're making pure profit from the backers money paying for that DLC, that they charge extra for).
But eventually I thought "hell with it" and decided to pay out. You never really know the full story, and it wouldn't be the first time I paid for a game that screwed over their backers (The other time was Strike Suit Zero, which I later found out promised backers an exclusive suit, and later claimed "Oh, we meant a *time release.* Did you guys think it was forever?"

Odd that the Genesis and Megadrive collection wasn't on sale.
That 10 dollars for 50+ legal roms and rom hacks (Bare Knuckle III English translation!) may be the best 10 dollars I ever spent.

Or do what I did, and just hunt down the roms in the Steamworks folders, and use Kega Fusion.

I had trouble with that at first, too. Assuming you're using a gamepad (I can't imagine playing these with keyboard, but it's possible), You have to assign the buttons first, and they work by holding them down until this "saving/loading" animation finish's (So a tap won't do it).

Btw, if you have Alien Soldier, I'd still highly recommend subscribing to the "Europe to US 60hz" mod, then snagging it from the Steamworks folders to use with an emulator.
Mainly because the Steam emulators seem to have issues with the music, and also seems a bit jerky.
It's just like the Wii-U edition, in a good external emulator. (If you prefer sticking with Segas emulators, the Japanese region is an available switch before you start the game, and that's supposed to be 60hz, instead of the default Europe 50hz.)

I saw Metal Gear Solid Phantom Pain for sale on steam so I snagged it for 12 bucks.
