Regardless, as it stands, a weakened SSJ2 teen Gohan overcoming the odds against Super Perfect Cell, even with the help of the other Z-fighters, particularly Vegeta, is a far more impressive feat than current Gohan beating a weakened Cell Max.
I may as well finally mention these things, because I love me some baldy-wank...
1.) When Cell Max was about to attack #18, Krillin's Destructo Disk clearly 'hurt' him to some extent, as it stopped his charge all together(and Cell was still at full-power, no less.)
2.) The Solar Flare Krillin used against Cell Max made it possible for Gamma #2's kamikaze to hit its mark, and gave the Z Fighters enough time to leave the area.
3.) A kick from Krillin noticeably rocked Cell Max after he was weakened.
Just saying.

Oh yeah, didn't like how 18 once again got the soccer mom haircut, and you'd think she would get ptsd or something from seeing a giant Semi-Perfect Cell, but I guess that would require actual character writing. I don't know, but with all the love her brother 17 got from his last main appearance, it's disappointing how little she gets in comparison. Krillen is currently stronger than her as it is too, when they should be a power couple; the only one in Dragon Ball since the other women like Videl etc are weak sauce humans with far less fighting experience than Krillen.
Honestly Krillin's attacks being able to have any affect at all on character that is still SSJB +++ level (even when weakened) is kinda dumb.
It's like they've forgotten how powerful God level characters are supposed to be. Remember when SSJ3 Goku fought Beerus in BOG? Goku's strongest attacks had no affect on Beerus at all, and Beerus ktfo'd him with a couple of taps.
Is how the Toriyama handjobs work. He likes a certain side character or suddenly remembers they exist? They get an off-screen boost regardless of how much or little sense it makes. The people that are fans of these old characters get to have some fun though at least, while the power scaling nerds get their panties stuck in a bunch, but you can't please everyone.
I agree that it's stupid and illogical, but it... Still happened? And it's not exactly without precedent, given Krillin's feats in the anime. /shrug
Like I told you in that other thread: Tori loves Krillin, so he's always going to stay relevant, even if it doesn't make sense. Hell, Krillin and Oob are probably the only humans who are ever going to be relevant again.

It just occurred to me but I feel like it was a missed opportunity to make a canon SSJ4 design for Gohan considering it's supposed to be called Beast Gohan or whatever. Would've been better than the big dumb SSJ2 hair Gohan ended up with.
Also we're the Z fighters, well mainly Killing, just going to let Pan get caught in an explosion if she didn't fly?
I get it. Just hard to accept that he can actually be helpful against guys with god level ++ power when he wasn't even Frieza level at the end of Z. Like where did all of that sudden growth come from?
Illogical amps are what DBS does. This is not late-breaking news.
Look at Beerus, ffs. The guy was originally pressed a bit by n00b-SSG Goku, yet now he is still implied to be leagues beyond even MUI Goku/UE Vegeta. Hell, we can't even say for sure if Black Freeza has surpassed Beerus(though my initial guess would be "no".)
And as far as we know, Beerus hasn't trained at all since he first appeared in BoG(and he was sleeping for decades before that, iirc.) He just keeps getting randomly buffed in each arc without any sort of explanation... Tori and Toyo just like him.
Similar thing with Krillin, but obviously to a far lesser extent.

Beerus at least has the benefit of being a god of destruction, and also has that perfected Ultra Ego technique that he started teaching Vegeta. It could also be possible that Whis is taking him to some kind of ROSAT here and there (like Merus did with Goku). So it at least makes more sense.
Krillin has none of that going for him, but somehow he's still relevant against current threats? I don't get it.
Krillin is only "relevant" in the sense that he can still help out against the current threats. He's certainly not solo'ing them or anything.
That being said, I completely agree that Krillin's attacks logically should not have had any effect on Cell Max at all(the thing's raw power was Broly-ish tier)... But like I keep saying: "logic" seldom applies when it comes to Toriyama's favorite characters.
At the end of the day, Krillin's attacks can at least faze characters on that level. No reason to beat your head against the wall trying to figure it out, because it will never make sense.

Someone I know elsewhere made this chart earlier on showing the Toriyama bias (who he favorites/favors/is neutral with/dislikes/hates) and how it's reflected in the series, and honestly, pretty spot on for the most part.
Vegeta's pretty lucky despite being in the Toriyama dislike group, considering. Him being a fan favorite whose popularity Tori had initially underestimated and how loud his fans are is mainly what keeps him around and having occasional new forms/powerups, even though he's never allowed to do defeat a main villain even if he has the power to do so (Frieza at the end of RoF).

Oh, Krillen isn't there, but I guess he would go under Tori favorites.
^ That has always been a terrible business model for Dragon Ball tbh. Look no further than the rushed creation of Super Saiyan Blue, and by extension most of the asspull powerups that have been had since then. That aside,
