Thanks to all who participated. PG, thanks for organising it, judges, thanks for agreeing to judge.
BW, we make a hell of a team, and going up against you legit made me nervous - even with my team. Your ideas would have been interesting, and truth be told I myself had one or two ideas as to how to beat me.
As mid herald champion, I humbly accept my victory. Most of the time, its who you are, rather than the characters you've chosen (thanks, LoB!). But this time, as with Smurph, I'd like to think my rep, coupled with my characters' rep, was strong enough to put the fear of God in ya.
BW, feel free to PM (or even post here for all) your ideas. Would be interesting.
I'd also like to thank my support team. Much as I would like to make out that it was a solo effort, all down to my own brilliance, the truth is I had a lot of help.
Leo and OAS, for bouncing ideas off (when leo tells me I have a surefire way of winning, THAT'S when I knew I would lose).
Prof. T.C McAbe for giving me the initial idea of Matter Eater Lad.
Abhi, for kindly providing the Bizarro scans I asked for.
Galan, for providing Firestorm scans initially, then listening to my ideas around Firestorm (who had to be dropped, ultimately).
PG and Id, for answering my incessant questions and letting me CONSTANTLY redraft over and over and over again....
All in all, was enjoyable (bar the Incident!). But yes, I couldn't have done as well as I did alone.
I've actually been giving this a fair amount of thought since having a PM chat with Blair. I have a particular idea in mind that I think would work, but no good amalgam in which to deploy it. It takes at least 2 guys to even create the attack, at which point it's basically a one-trick pony. It might provide a viable offense, but it would be too exposed elsewhere.
In other words, DS definitely made things really hard to pick against. So Blair wasn't kidding, and he's a tough guy to stump. Nicely done, sir.

there was a combo i thought of that could have taken him down rather easily i think. possible i missed something though. after all, it's clear the shield doesn't affect the INSIDE of his body. ie--he still thinks so electrical impulses still function at their normal speeds inside his body. regular light is also clearly is immune to his shield effect since he sees things at the same time and rate we all do. all you needed to do was get a way inside his armor to the body/brain underneath, and there were quite a few ways i could think of to do that. once inside the armor he'd be defenseless. *shrug*
i still think someone could have swayed judges to think that his armor would have been shut down by his own force field as well. someone tried that tack, i think, but didn't really press the issue.
And don't let us play armchair quarterback, DS. You earned your win. Blair just got done telling me how he thinks my idea wouldn't have worked, and he's almost certainly right. You had a clever team that stumped one of the most creative debaters in tourney history. So it's no small feat. I only got to judge the one match (Carver v. Blair), but it was fun reading through some of your posts.
