Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1 - $94,320,883 Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 - $145,049,000
Wonder if it'll have the same good word-of-mouth reputation that the first had, though. Because if people are disappointed they may convince others to wait for smaller media.
Gender: Male Location: The Proud Nation of Kekistan
Absolutely loved it.

I also enjoyed GOTG2 and enjoyed the humor in it. As I stated before , the reason I liked 1 better was because part 2 went overboard in a few instanced with being to over the top wacky.
Again 'FEW" instances.
I want to go see this movie again as I enjoyed it, so off the top of my head, some examples of my critiques are:
[SPOILER - highlight to read]:
1. The intro baby Groot dance action scene. I liked baby Groot dancing in the credits of GOTG1. This time it just felt drawn out and just in there for people that were craving more dancing baby Groot. For me it distracted from a fun action intro scene. Baby Groot didn't bother me the rest of the film.
2. The Sovereign Race. I liked them for the most part. The part that felt "off" was when they started to act "goofy" and child like. Didn't make sense to me since when they were introduced they presented to be a semi perfect race with a serious douchbagish demeanor. This also made any combat against them not seem as serious or if the stakes were as high. Again if they make them behave this way in small doses it would have been fine. The thing is it dragged on and it was a running joke the whole movie.
Also the part were Ayesha was walking while her servants are rolling out the carpet thing is another one of these overly silly/wacky things that I felt was "off"
3. When Yondu and Rocket were space traveling /warping. I seriously lol'ed at their distorted faces when that happened. The issue here is that they dragged it out too much and went unnecessarily over top with it. After a while I was like "ok we are still on the same joke'?, Along with cartoonish sound effects and speed ups. I know what they were going for and I enjoyed it at first. It just dragged on too much until it became parody-like.
4. The final battle when Peter transforms into Pac-Man. I guess this is just me because I still have a bad taste in my mouth from pixels.
It would have worked better if shitty pixels never came out. But they should have been aware that Pixels exists and used another 80's reference in that action sequence. I feel Pac-Man is played out and obvious. Again a bit over the top for my taste. And I like over top when used right. Just felt wacky and predictable.
I think that's it as far as I can remember. They could have handled those things better and the film would have had a better flow and tone in those instances.

I agree with the Baby Groot intro. I wanted to see the battle with the giant space squid, so I was annoyed more than anything during that. A little too much pandering to Baby Groot fans.
I loved the Yondu and Rocket warping part. That ruled. No complaints there.
And I agree with the Pac Man thing. That was a little silly for my taste as well, especially considering he was only able to conjure a ball before and suddenly demonstrates the ability to create a classic arcade game character. Under different circumstances it would have been better I think.

Not awful, but a huge step down from the first. The humor wasn't nearly as fun/witty, the story generic (though this happens a lot) and my main gripe, the main villain was so very meh. Marvel/Disney, you done bungled this one up. Do better in 3.
She could be MCU's Wolverine --- damn near unbreakable skeleton, healing factor, uber blade... but nooo, let's just downplay her and make her Star-Lord's love interest.
Similar with Mantis. [SPOILER - highlight to read]: All the focus on her being a cute empath... but where is her trademark Mantis speech? And what about her martial arts skill? Smh.
As I said in the off-topic thread, it's entirely possible that [SPOILER - highlight to read]: Ego lied about being a Celestial. It'd really go nicely with how he lied in comics about being a scientist / elder of the universe and that sort of shit.
I mean... we already DID see a REAL Celestial in GotG 1.
Enjoyed it much more the second time around. I still felt The Sovereign were bad and taserface was just as cringe-worthy as could be. That being said I really enjoyed it a lot more the second time and apparently audiences loved it as well as it is a 54% increase over the first opening weekend.

I thought that joke was dragged out a little too much. Like when the "Sovereign" lady laughed at the name. That felt a bit forced. It might have been funnier if she hadn't laughed, but just said something like, "Taserface? What a stupid name."
I actually liked Drax in this movie. it felt like he was finally opening up and becoming more comfortable around his family. Also the scene where mantis touches him and instantly breaks down crying while he just sits there shows just how much pain he's still suffering through but he pushes it to the back.

I don't mind the more upbeat personality, but there wasn't much else to him. Other than the scene where [SPOILER - highlight to read]: he shoots the one ship while dangling from the cable, he does almost nothing of note, action-wise. Pretty much everyone else had more to do than he did, physically, with the arguable exception of Baby Groot.
