It was a shout-out to Peter's dance and the ending of GoTG. Didn't hate it, but it also didn't set the tone to the film like Peter's pelvic thrusting to 'Come And Get Your Love' did. Not even close, the babygroot dance was really more for the kids I felt.
That's probably my favorite part of the original. That little intro sequence with him dancing through the bizarre planet landscape, kicking those little critters and even picking one up and using it as a microphone. Haha...
The intro to the new one actually looked less realistic, very soundstagey/green screen and ironically probably required more budget animating Groot and all. Sometimes more budget is bad for movies.
FYI: I have a bunch of Bluerays/DVD's in my collection that I bought and know that the movie wasn't good, but I still bough them.
For example: Spiderman 3, X-3, AvP, Alien Vs Predator : Requiem, Freddy Vs Jason, Tommy Wiseau's : The Room, plus others.
So it should be no surprise people buy DVD/Blurays even if they know the movies were sub par.
Superman, Joker, Harley, Batman are massively popular. I would expect them to sell a bunch regardless of quality of the film.
You are gloating over the obvious

Movie version was more like a Celestial Madonna then the classic version.

Great movie, the first one is near the top of my all-time favorite comic book movies, this one edges it out just a bit to be the superior of the two. [SPOILER - highlight to read]: Kurt Russell as Ego was a high point, probably #2 villain in MCU behind Loki
James Gunn has confirmed that Yondu is indeed dead in the MCU. He has said long as he is involved with Marvel, he won't let Yondu return, as that death was meant to be final
He was by far the most compelling character in the film.

This movie had a logical reason for Ego the Living Planet for getting killed.
That can't be said for the Red Skull which was utterly dumb.
How the irony aliens view humans as inferior and yet the design of the controls of fighter jets resemble the controls of Arcade machines.
I really hope Marvel would get the movie rights to Fantastic Four because they perfectly depicted Ego The Living Planet including his visual appearance as Ego the Living Planet.
No doubt they could do the same with the Devourer of Planets Galactus.
