Multiple lucky shots (they hit it like 3 times IIRC), from literally about a mile away? With no proper line of sight? Considering the speed of their projectiles, they would actually need to predict the dragon's flight path several seconds in advance to know where to aim. That's the issue. I am well aware of the mooks not being able to aim trope, but going from pulling off shots that modern-day world-class snipers would struggle to replicate, launching a barrage of spears as she charged them, to literally only being able to get like two shots off (never mind the accuracy of them) before all dying is a HUGE drop. You don't even have to factor Dani taking avoiding action in. The soldiers flat-out became less competent between episodes, based on what we are shown. Both were unrealistic extremes. Those things shouldn't be sniping dragons from nowhere, but they also shouldn't be completely and utterly useless when you have like 30 of them set and prepped either.

The first was unrealistic. The scorpions being borderline useless against dragons, on the other hand, is realistic. However, both the absurdness of the scorpions sniping Rhaegal and the complete lack of consistency between the two episodes are issues.
That's exactly it. Hell, I don't even care all that much if the things are portrayed as being retardedly accurate. Realism flew completely out the window ages ago, like when a guy got killed by a shadow baby, for example. But at least have some consistency. Don't have them be lethal and accurate one week and then little more than decorations the next.

I'll actually sort of look forward to a Wiess/Benioff Star Wars trilogy. It should make for a more interesting Space (Soap) Opera. At the very least it probably won't feel like they're just making it up as they go.

Don't be a jerk just to be a jerk, but if you are expressing your true inner feelings and beliefs, or at least trying to express that inner child, and everyone gets pissed off about it, never NEVER apologize for it. Let them think what they want, let them define you in their narrow little minds while they suppress every last piece of them just to keep a friend that never liked them for themselves in the first place.

This final season kind of reminds me of Battlestar Galactica reboots final season, and the infamous "Kara Thrace is an angel" reveal. Lot of comedy when people are throwing up their arms, loudly saying "I'm done" after the series is over.
