This is why I haven't really liked the MCU, it's pushing away literally every other superhero movie, series or what have you because it's not from Marvel or doesn't have the same tone or whatever other BS. It's making all other studios rushing products instead of ya know...just making them and have them stand on their own merits. Put in good work and you'll see the money.
Then there's this whole "I WANNA BE FIRST IN LINE!" Bull and it's just...who in the audience is really gonna care 10+ years from now that said movie was the first X or Y? No, see what people are gonna remember is if the movie is good or not.
1) In X3, Xavier explicitly mentions the Phoenix as the reason Jean occasionally lost control of her powers and that he tried to contain and suppress it within her. Anyway, it definitely looked like Phoenix fire that killed Apocalypse in XMA. Nothing short of the PF would finish Apoc with how he could otherwise heal himself.
2) Apocalypse gave Cyclops some to do too, tho yeah, he shined more here. It was the same actor who was a decent Cyclops in both films I felt, for what he had to work with. James Marsden definitely had the potential to be a good one too, but y'know...
The order of the films isn't quite that big an issue for me, but point taken still.
....
The posted news about Dark Phoenix originally being two films would explain a lot. While I'm sure the reshoots helped a bit, Phoenix saga being at least two movies would've been so much better... Same with Apocalypse for that matter.
It's like Batman V Superman all over again, which was also supposed to be two films at first iirc, but rushing kinda led to the messes we got.

In X3 Phoenix was her split personality. Xavier purposefully put mind blocks in her head which Charles also did in this one.
Remember the PF isnt actually named the PF in the X-Men films. The name Phoenix is a name given to Jean. And one that took on a split personality in the original timeline.
Anyway Point is she can be super powerful without the PF itself. And the bird shape flame could just be a Jean thing given the PF didnt look like a bird until it entered Jean IIRC.
The difference of course is that WB had all the time in the world and just rushed into it, then panicked.
Dark Phoenix however was already done shooting when the Disney merger was announced. So there wasnt much they could do except to and give the First Class series some kind of closure with the reshoots.

To date, X-Men Origins: Wolverine is the only X-Men movie I didn't actually like. Everything else, like to love.
But this could be the first X movie I pass on seeing in the theatre, and maybe completely. Honestly, I'm just waiting for the MCU to bring it back in a better way, but it should go away for some years.

Ever watch the Resident Evil films and how much they want you to understand how important Alice is? Same thing. Hell, most people like DOFP (me included), and that's basically a film that revolves around Wolverine and Mystique.
Retarded as hell, considering what caused Mags to join Apoc... and a wasted opportunity, seeing how [SPOILER - highlight to read]: Pietro --- or Peter, how FOX calls him --- never tells him the truth. Not even in Dark Phoenix. So basically Erik never finds out.
There is a missing piece of the story but Theres no major contradiction if thats what you mean.
What I meant was its a nice end to the First Class series of films. And a better film to end this series than Apocalypse IMO.
But in terms of the Days of Future Past happy ending, well that was kinda ruined by Logan. Technically the whole saga ended with Logan, which takes place in the reset timeline post Days of Future Past.
I thought DOFP revolves around Charles and Mystique (mostly Charles). Wolverine had a major role, but wasnt really his film Imo. Its like Singer finally learned that they can bank off Wolverine without needlessly tossing off to him.
Heck they even banked off him in Apocalypse.
I will assume he found out off screen. Because why wouldnt he tell him over another 10years.
But yeah that was BS. But should have been done in Apoc, as it fit that film and would have been going off tangent for DP.
