All kidding aside, this is asinine. They want to make purposely infecting someone with aids a "misdemeanor". Wf? Purposely giving someone an incurable disease seems like something worthy of a felony. I don't care how much better treatments have gotten, it should still be a felony to give someone HIV on purpose, what is going on in California?

Maybe if you guys were not such reactionary retards, you would try to confirm the details in the article before posting.
The existing law makes it a felony for an HIV-positive to even solicit sex from someone without disclosing his or her status first, even if the two do not have sex.
I do not agree that the category of crime should be changed to a misdemeanor in all instances—it should remain a felony in instances in which HIV transmission occurs—but the current law is onerous and unnecessarily punitive.
