The short of it: A 75 year old woman lost her son, and his wife, and had grandkids to care for, and needed money desperately. Her late husband was given a paperweight with a speck of moon rock and some shuttle heat shield, allegedly from Neil Armstrong.
So she was desperate, and tried to auction the rock, and contacted Nasa for help doing this legally.
Turns out this is a federal crime, and all moon stuff is considered federal property. Of course, no one tells her this. Instead, they set up a sting operation, ignore her pleas to use the bathroom, and detain her in a parking lot for two hours soaked in urine.
So now, she's sueing. And a judge said she can. Ignored the federal agents claim of immunity.
That judge is my hero. Good luck defending holding up a 75 year old in soiled clothes for two hours (You're not a nursing home, after all, only they can get away with abusing the elderly. )
