You basically trolled and ignored the entire speed and perception argument. Superman starts the fight with everyone frozen. That proves that this fight is spite.

Byrne era was funny stupid about it. "Somebody is remotely controlling that camera probe faster then I can react! I'll go to the beach, pick up a billion kernals of sand, and individually place them at strategic points around it to fool the sensors! So I can be fast enough to catch it!" laughing out loud
