What is Carver Talks? It is a discussion created by topics Carver (or the forum I guess) brings up. For the purposes of this thread, I feel it better if any future topics and comparisons are between the same company. After which, Carver will talk.
Basically a comparison thread using only the comics. For example, Wonder Woman vs Superman direct showings, Thor vs Hulk direct showings, Thor vs Hulk common opponents, etc. There's really no guidelines, just have actual scans to the topic you bring up. For example, Superman can speedblitz Hulk because of a showing between him and Flash is a no. However, a comparison between Superman and Flash's speed is more than welcome.
I'll post a bigger example. But it really doesn't have to be that in depth. You could just contrast how the two do against one common opponent, one scene, or whatever. It doesn't have to mean or amount to much, just post the comparisons.
So, let's open up with an example, and one me and Carver agreed upon. Again, it doesn't have to go this far, or it can even go further if you want. I'll probably do a set of smaller comparisons after this one.
----
The first of which will be of one Carver feels very strongly about, and that is Thanos vs Gladiator.
I will contrast all of their relevant opponents without adding any opinion of my own, and maybe a touch of context.
I think that's about it. There's a scene where Glads smashes Ms Marvel and both of them Quasar's constructs (though the Thanos one was a little more reinforced to say the least), as well as a couple Thing, and Avengers scenes. I might have overlooked something besides that, but that should be enough to get a good comparison between the two in common opponents. Gladiator has a better track record against Drax and Binary, but falls behind in every other aspect.
So, what do you think Carver? Do you think these two are comparable in universal standing and common opponents? Do you think these mean anything, etc?
It was originally going to be just on the one topic (Thanos vs Glads), but then I realized how curious I was to see how others would compare and realized I'd like to see what Bluewater and the like can come up with.
I'm also trying to think up some more. Colossus/Drax, Drax/Thing, Cyclops/Havok, etc were among the first to come to me. I'll see what I can come up with.
I will be posting scans proving Hulk>Thor (or any other High Herald tbh) and then I will continue my posting showing that a contained Hulk>a contained Thanos. I'm ok with Bran comments on Thanos>Gladiator but I think there is solid evidence proving Hulk is either equal to or greater than Thanos (not even World Breaker or WWH either). This is an interesting thread.
In every confrontation that they have been in, Thanos has beaten the Hulk. Marvel went as far as calling the Hulk his basement Dog. He took over his mind and used him to beat up on Thor. He had an underling drop a star on him, he beat him into goo in the Movie theater. I mean come on Carver, the Hulk doesn't have even one victory over Thanos, not even a challenge. This is coming from a Hulk fan. Look deep in the mirror, and ask yourself if you're in denial.
Wait, you mean that in order to be a fan you need to live in constant denial?
In a comic book, the Hulk could definitely give Superman a big challenge. We've seen less do this in the past, but in a forum match that has Superman fighting without having to worry about innocent bystanders getting in the way, Superman would just fly on in, and smack him so hard that he sends him hurtling towards the sun. You do recall what Grand Master prime did to him right? Superman could do the same, I mean Superman can throw much larger objects than the Hulk into deep space after all. The Hulk can't fly.
In order for the Hulk to stand a chance you literally have to turn BFR off, or take Superman's speed and flight abilities away.
Thanos can fly as well. He has so many gimmicks that it would be like the Hulk was fighting Reed Richards with Hulk or above level strength. You should keep Thanos' name out of your list of Heralds, because he is far above that tier. Thanos has always been the guy that teams with Hulk level characters had to find a way to defeat. Were you surprised when Zeus put the big foot on Hulk? Well Thanos is now playing in or above that clubhouses level.
When the Surfer isn't jobbing, how well does the Hulk usually do against him? Why does the Hulk do so poorly against Surfer? Cosmic powers? Thanos has cosmic powers as well, and he also has mystical abilities, while possessing the ability to mind rape, and augment his already above herald level strength. Hulk may as well be a one trick pony because if you cut him off from the gamma force.... well.
Being a fan doesn't mean that you need to lie to yourself Carver.

Can Surfer beat Thanos 10/10 in a forum match? He's far faster than Thanos and he can open Black Holes in the body. Do you give Surfer 10/10 against Thanos via opening black holes in his brains?
