Yeah, more than once. But they're trying to target a wider audience than the games, or even the books, so that needs to be taken into consideration as well.

Nah I want t*ts and magic and stuff.

Some extra boobies won't hurt anyone.

Well, I haven't seen anyone say they need to remove it. But it's very much possible to shoot it more tastefully. Because you might be fine with it, but the show has gotten criticism for it.

Well, the way I look at it is I wouldn't be too keen on watching a show if there was constantly hairy balls onscreen, so I can imagine people who aren't sexually attracted to women feel that way about gratuitous female nudity. So, shows that want to be successful need to be aware of these things. Especially in today's age and social climate.

I think it's different because I'd wager even hetero women would rather look at some nice boobies than some dudes balls. When I hear women complimenting the male body it is usually about a guys abs or butt. It's not "he had some really sexy looking balls".

And I honestly don't remember Yennefers boobs popping out that many times.

Well, the show has taken some heat because of it though. Not that I think it will cause that much harm. From what I have seen so far, while reviewers are divided, it seems audience response to season 1 is pretty good overall, 93% audience score on RT, 8.6/10 on IMDB, 4.8/5 Google audience rating etc.

Since audiences on RT loved it I'm gonna guess that critics did not.

The show is getting a second season(confirmed before the first season even came out) and I hope they don't decide against boobs in a scene now cuz some people complained. I say don't cave to boob bigots.

Eh, I am personally not all that bothered by it, but just basically saying that I can see why some people might have found issues with it. And I doubt they'll remove explicit nudity. It's a question of how it's shot more than anything else.

Now, onto one of my more genuine peeves. Nilfgaard armor looks like they decided to wrap themselves in stretched out, mummified scrotum sacks.

True, I appreciate the boobs and ass on-screen but wouldn't be a big fan of seeing hairy vaginas all over the place.

I make one comment about the gratuitous boobs and you guys only talk about that after I leave.

Yes, it's fine, but it was a bit much, IMO. Maybe cut that time in half. Either make porn or make a show: don't try to combine both.

Well, people are prone to discussing things that might spark controversy or strong emotions and responses. To some degree, it's probably part of the reason some of the busiest threads on this site have at least one active troll in them. Also, boobs.

my thoughts on the 1st season..

i enjoyed this... geralt's hero's journey will no doubt continue in season 2... henry and anya have great onscreen chemistry..

i liked the time jumps, as they made sense to the overall story.

freya made a youthful version of ciri work well...

i loved the action scenes.. even yen's hero's jourey will continue i would think.

you really don't have to have payed the game or read the novels..

i'd overal give this a rating of 8/10 and will binge watch at some point

Finally finished it. Episode 8 was pretty good. Also, almost got manly tears when Ciri hugged Gerald when she first saw him. "They don't know each other but have been trying to find each other this whole time." It feels more like a good big-brother trying to find his little sister than it does a father-daughter relationship. Even in the games, it felt like some sort of combination of father-brother. The show did a good job of capturing that.

Honestly, I don't know why the hug had such a big impact. Maybe it's because I wanted her saved for so many damn episodes and bad guys were always after her. So when she FINALLY found someone who is genuinely interested in protecting her from the bad guys, you knew she was safe.

Did anyone else notice that the lighting immediately brightened as soon as Geralt saw Ciri? That was intentional but subtle. Go back and watch it again to see what I mean: pretty cool.

I want more. I want to see Ciri grow up and become a badass. Also, in case anyone is wondering, this is how you make strong female leads: the way the people did it with The Witcher. It doesn't feel forced. It just "happens."

Other than the initial time-jumping (only the first 3 episodes), I agree with every single point you made. The "name lore" stuff only felt like it would be confusing for the first 3 episodes and then it started to build its own world and it didn't feel like you needed to have played the games. I think with all stuff like this, there's a steep learning curve in the first 1-3 episodes and then it all just starts to "work."

This is why I trust your reviews so much: you capture everything I would like and agree with.

I was disappointed there was no moment where Geralt stopped to say, "Looks like rain." big grin

But in all seriousness, for what they took on, I also thought they did a good job with it. And I really want to see how the dynamic between Geralt, Ciri and Yen develops over the future seasons. Because a lot of people think Netflix was hoping this could grab that Game of Thrones spot that's been empty since that show finished, and I think they might very well have succeeded to a large degree.
