"The big thing that he realizes, the thing that he says 'yes' to is that he's trapped. That he knows that there's no other path for him, he sees where his path is leading: that vision on the last couple pages...this figure with a blue lightsaber waiting down the road for him."

So yeah, Palpatine being responsible for Anakin's creation could indeed be wholly rooted in fact.

Well, Matt Martin just debunked this theory:

And despite Soule's previous interview(quoted above), he also hopped on the bandwagon:

Very odd that they waited a year after the issue was released(which was also AFTER the release of RoS) to address this theory. Personally, I think Soule's original intent WAS for Palpatine to be the father and they're just backpeddling now, but I digress...

Canon is canon, and Palpatine is definitively NOT Anakin's father.

Matt has been saying this for awhile. They don’t seem to be saying that Palpatine did not create Anakin. But rather that that is not what the scene is meant to be indicating. But who cares, Matt Martin is a ****in dumb ass anyways.

Same. It was an interesting little twist, imo.

But alas...

of course they played damage control after ROS. If Sidious were Anakins father, then he would also be Kylos great grandfather along with Reys grandfather.

which would totally **** up this "dyad" shit in the movie.

Not sure about the Dyad thing (that could surely still happen if theyre more closely related), but it would make their kiss messed up. (I know its Star Wars, but one incestuous snog in the saga was too much).

But on the other hand, it would mean the saga was actually always about Palpatines who just called themselves Skywalkers. So that would have made me feel a little better about the ending of ROS.

Would be one of those weird things you can just think about.

But alas I think its better that Anakin was a natural product of the Force. And not an unnatural one. But also makes me sad that bloodline is [SPOILER - highlight to read]: dead.

Palpatine wasn’t obviously the natural father of Anakin, he just created him with Sith magic. It’s like saying that the Kaminoans are the fathers of the clones

^ I get that, hence why I said if it was down to him Anakin would be an Unnatural product of the Force.

But still I wouldnt equate it to the Kaminoans. It would be a bit more personal than that.

I'm so excited for this comic

Darth Vader's my...favorite? Second favorite? Third favorite at the very least...character, and one of the reasons is because of how he deals with the fact that he's become evil.

The movies made it seem like he was blinded to how evil he'd become, and thought that his actions, while heinous, where justifyable.
Legends contradicted that a ton, by showing times where he'd specifically tried to come to terms with his darkness and pushed to the point where he knew he was evil and had to make a choice to stay loyal to the emperor or not. And he always picked the emperor, like he'd accepted he was a monster.

And somehow all those moments didn't turn him back to the light, but Palpatine trying to kill Luke did.

Then when the new canon started, we had this opportunity to make him like the movies again, and I had hope when Lords of the Sith included the section where he thought to himself about how what he was doing was for the security of others and all.
Of course, the comics had to go and contradict that, just like Legends, again.

This one, though. It's taking that approach of him still being misled. I wanted to see how Greg Pak would explore that, and having read this preview, the art, atmosphere, and the method of storytelling do not disappoint.

I've still got issues with him going back to Tatooine, though it happened in the last series too. And I've got issues with the droid having records on all this; Tatooine is supposed to be as far away from the bright center of the galaxy as possible. And if the Tusken Raider incident was on records, then why didn't the Jedi council consult Anakin about it?

But that's just expected whenever a new installment comes out. It'll change stuff up about the movies, so I guess I shouldn't let that bother me.

It's going to be so over the top and feat heavy.

Greg Pak already had Vader soak the destruction of a planet with compromised armor. I cant even imagine what he has in store for Vader here lol.

well, I hope there's not too much of a power creep. But I'm looking forward to him showing off his status as one of the most powerful sith lords in history. And actually use his powers to do stuff. Loved that he did that "Lords of the Sith."

Is it just me or am I the only one confused?

That also said I'm reeeeally not liking this whole, Vader finding out Luke and Leia are his children this early in the game...well I mean if he founds out about Leia anyway.

^ This is set after ESB, so Vader definitely knows about Luke.

I doubt he'll find out about Leia here.

I thought it took place before? Or was that another series? I can't remember.

But then ok, that's fair, I forgot.
