Since the third protection held the same spell that locked up Merlin for a thousand years, it does seem Strange would escape. Eventually. In a millennium or so.

That's not the only protection, though. That's assuming Strange can escape technology a million years from now. Plus, Merlin is superior to Strange. He's trans/sky father, IMO.

You know who couldn't escape?

Batman. The TBWL was also bluffing, he knew he could trick Lex into having him escape and negotiate a truce between them but he was definitively trapped there.

Batmen suck.
