Frieza ki sensing?

Just seen the new broly movie again and Frieza can definitely detect ki without a scouter now it seems. WHEN did he learn to do this?

did the show every detail HOW he learned to sense ki? just seems really random to me.

Wasn't explained. Evidently Freeza just figured it out on his own while he was training.

Wouldn't be the first time someone has randomly learned the ability -- Vegeta essentially did the same thing after the Saiyan saga, for example.
