Actors often don't want their face to be tampered with CGI, as that takes away a lot from that facial expressions - I could see Bale being bitchy about that (just guessing).

That's not the first major look change we've seen in Thor films.

And I really believe that comic-accurate Gorr would look way too much like Lord Voldemort --- but of course I can understand how some fans choose not to embrace this change.
