DDM, what you think of this?

Interesting response. Almost chilling, he talks like he knows a thing or two about supressing revolts.

Government spook?

Never let anyone else define you. Don't be a jerk just to be a jerk, but if you are expressing your true inner feelings and beliefs, or at least trying to express that inner child, and everyone gets pissed off about it, never NEVER apologize for it. Let them think what they want, let them define you in their narrow little minds while they suppress every last piece of them just to keep a friend that never liked them for themselves in the first place.

My take is that cycles really do repeat themselves but the variables at play do not.

There is always the issue of the young being disrespectful to the old. It's been documented for ages.

There is also the theory that psychopaths, especially high-functioning ones that make up 90%-99% of psychopaths, are the next step in human psychology and mental stability. It offers several advantages in the modern world over the more emotional and hysterical primitive minds.

1% of the population are psychopaths.

As for the topic, is the person a military operative that specializes in suppressing revolts? I doubt it. They are more likely to be a hobbyist on the topic. There are several signs: lack of "profession" specific jargon or lingo, the lack of deftness with which they write about the topic (compared to the experts in the field who may make multiple references to research specific results and terms).

Look at my post: much closer to academia but I'm still a hobbyist, at best.

Suppressing revolts is not a hidden topic. We have plenty of history and methods with which we can review and implement strategies. The idea or notion that you can placate the populace such that they no longer revolt is not a new topic but it is not a situation where we see waning interest. For example, look at France which has better scores in the HDI compared to the US. Still civil unrest and revolts.

In fact, it would appear revolts are becoming more frequent but less violent (but still plenty of violence). That is fueled by social media and communication tools allowing ideas to spread literally within seconds as opposed to the years it took, before.
