Arkansas Police Chief Resigns After Social Media Posts Circulate
A police chief in Arkansas has resigned after he threatened to assault "Marxist Democrats" in posts he made on the social media platform Parler.
An active Parler user with the name and picture of Lang Holland, who was Marshall's Chief of Police, posted multiple derogatory posts about Democrats, transgender people, and supporters of Black Lives Matter.
One post from Friday told people that when they saw a "Marxist Democrat" in public, they should "get in their face," "throw water on them at restaurants," and "push them off sidewalks."
The mayor of Marshall confirmed on Saturday in a statement that the posts were made by the police chief.
In previous posts, which have now been taken down, Holland encouraged people to burn and smash Democrats' homes and run them out of the country.
In a comment from earlier this week, Lang said supporters of Black Lives Matter and Antifa should be shot in the face. He shared multiple posts from other users threatening the lives of Democratic politicians.
He also posted that transgender people have no rights, calling them "mentally defective" and "perverted freaks."
Several people have called for Arkansas senators, the attorney general, and the governor to comment on the posts, but they did not respond to requests for comment.

Trump Supporter Arrested in Connection with Death Threats
Brian Maiorana, 54, a resident of Staten Island, was charged with threatening to kill and ordering others to kill protestors, politicians, and law enforcement in retaliation for the 2020 U.S. Presidential Election.
Maiorana was arrested this morning, and made his initial appearance this afternoon before United States Magistrate Judge Sanket J. Bulsara.
Maiorana was ordered detained pending trial.
"The Department of Justice will not stand idly by when people like the defendant threaten to kill elected officials, lawful protesters, and law enforcement simply because of animus towards the outcome of an election. Americans have a constitutional right to voice their opinions, but this Office will not tolerate violence or threats of violence used to intimidate others with whom they disagree," stated Acting United States Attorney DuCharme.
"Mr. Maiorana's online posts called for violence against our entire community—protestors, politicians, and law enforcement officers alike. His alleged threats are disturbing and far outside of acceptable norms, but they also violated federal law. A word of advice to those who haven't yet figured this out—the FBI will carry out our mission to protect the public's safety and our constitutional right to disagree with one another, but we will not tolerate threats and acts of violence. Any others who wish to follow the example set by Mr. Maiorana will be held accountable in the same way," stated FBI Assistant Director-in-Charge Sweeney.
Beginning in September 2020, Maiorana used a social media platform to post multiple threats to kill protestors, politicians, and law enforcement officers, and to encourage others to do the same.
For example, on October 19, 2020, Maiorana posted that "Its come to the point where pipe bombs need to be thrown into these mobs of potentially non violent violent protesters."
On November 8, 2020, Maiorana posted: "Soap Box, Ballot Box…that was fraudulently stolen from us, Now Cartridge Box," a reference to ammunition or "cartridges."
On November 8, 2020, following the news media's projection of the result of the 2020 Presidential Election, Maiorana posted that "The Turner Diaries must come to life. We blow up the FBI building for real. All the alphabet agencies assassination will become the new normal now...that the electoral process is finished."
The Turner Diaries—a 1978 novel influential among white nationalist and neo-Nazi groups—depicts an overthrow of the U.S. federal government, nuclear war, and ultimately, the extermination of non-whites.
It has been cited as inspiration for numerous acts of terrorism, including the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing.
Following Maiorana's arrest, the FBI executed a search warrant at his residence and seized, among other things, a semiautomatic firearm and ammunition.
If convicted, Maiorana faces up to five years' imprisonment.
A Republican who claimed he was on his way to Missouri to kill a former Democratic senator was arrested after UHP troopers caught him driving up to 130 mph in the snow while impaired.
George William Stahl, 36, of Cottonwood Heights, was booked into the Summit County Jail early Wednesday for investigation of making a threat of terrorism, failing to stop at the command of police, reckless driving, speeding, DUI, and drug possession.
About 12:45 a.m. Wednesday, Stahl was spotted by a Utah Highway Patrol trooper traveling 115 mph on I-80 in Summit County, according to a police affidavit.
After another trooper spiked the vehicle's tires, Stahl was arrested.
"Stahl was belligerent and appeared heavily intoxicated. He smelled of an alcoholic beverage and his eyes were glassy and bloodshot. There was an empty 12 pack of Budweiser beer in his vehicle as well as a partially consumed other 12 pack. Stahl stated that he was on Adderall and LSD and beer."
Stahl was taken to the North Summit Fire Station to be medically evaluated and then to the Summit County Jail, and continued to be belligerent while being transported.
"He stated that he was on his way to Missouri to kill former Democratic Senator Claire McCaskill. Stahl made several real threats to her, and stated several times that he was on his way to Missouri to kill her."
