Eh... Yeah, seems pretty average, tho if it's really only $40 as rumored, then I guess it's not that bad a deal. Still, feels like a game I'll save getting on a rainy day if nothing else.
Rogue Leader was just tedious. Just about everything was timed, or an escort mission, and combat was impossible.
This video reminds me more of Rogue Leader.

I was of the minority who preferred Rebel Strike (the 3rd one) over Rogue Leader, partially for that reason of the 2nd one having too many similarly structured missions, but for a Gamecube launch title, wasn't bad.
Not sure yet how I would compare this new one to any of them though.
Gender: Male Location: In Luna's mane, chasing STAAARS!
Reportedly this will have no microtransactions so that's a plus.
Do like too the level of customization, even customizing the cockpit you're gonna be looking through. Squadrons is first person only. Wasn't comfortable using that for the dog fights in Battlefront 2 as I felt 3rd person > 1st person but if everyone's stuck with the same camera view, fair game.
The more information that comes out about this game the better it sounds. Something that's becoming increasingly more obvious is that this game is not and arcady dog fighting game like Ace combat or battlefield. The amount of talent customization and physics base maneuvers put it more in line with actual sims like the old X-Wing/TIE fighter games or free space. Look at the devs rambling about combat maneuvers you can pull off in the game.
"The Daemon lied with every breath. It could not help itself but to deceive and dismay, to riddle and ruin. The more we conversed, the closer I drew to one singularly ineluctable fact: I would gain no wisdom here."
Yeah...it's a solid game. For the price, it's worth the money. SP campaign is more than what I thought it would be.....it's lengthy, story is not bad and while it's 100% in space (no land based missions)...it doesn't feel tacked on.
Haven't gotten in the MP yet though but it's nice it offers a pretty robust training tool and 1 vs AI fleet battles.
There's a lot of space games out there though. Wherher its worth the money is relative. Some might consider ANY decent Star Wars game worth a premium.
The fact is, there's a lot of space games out there that cost a fraction of what this does. For me, it being worth it depends on if it offers anything I couldn't get from one of them.

You said space games cost a fraction of what this game costs, which is $40 US.
One of the big ones is Elite Dangrous...a $40 game. EVE Online is a free to play MMO.....Star Citizen hasn't been released...most likely a full price game once it does.
What other space games are there? That cost a fraction of $40. That would be around $10 bucks right?....what game is that? Maybe something that is 10 years old.....
Star Wars Sqadrons at $40 is a good price for what you get.
