No more then Luke Skywallker blocking a blaster is ftl, since blaster bolts are not ftl.

I used to use the "time it took to reach the moon" calculation too.
Trouble is, you look at your Kamehameha or Galic Gun, and they sure don't seem to move as fast in a smaller area.
Sure, in theory, one could argue we're seeing those blasts from their sped up perceptions, but then we're stuck trying to decide when something is real time, and when its from their perception, which makes for wonky arguments..
That, and the fact the animation is subjective over the anime. I doubt Akira Toriyama told the animators "Ok guys, this is supposed to be light speed. Make sure the blast reaches the moon within a second."

When Luke did this, did someone in the comic highlight his speed? Example: "NO ONE IS THAT FAST". It was obviously meant to highlight how fast Raditz is.
A standard, non-charged hand blast from Piccolo reaches the moon(~239,000 miles away) in literally 2 panels -- a few seconds, tops. Raditz dodges a charged SBC(which, yeah, undoubtedly moves faster than a standard ki blast) from something like 20' away.
I'm sure there's calcs for it somewhere on the interwebs, but it certainly seems like he must have reacted at relativistic speeds at first glance.

So because Bruce Lee said his punches are fast, and every one else said they're so fast a camera could barely capture them, that makes them light speed?

Read my response again. You didn't understand it. You mentioned Luke slapping lasers and I asked you if his speed was highlighted when he did it. The answer to this should be yes or no. Ill answer it for you though. No, his speed wasn't highlight. My response to that is, "then you can not use that showing as a comparison to Raditz showing since Raditz ft was obviously shown as a demonstration of how fast he is". CDTM response: "ok, Carver9, youre right this time. Ill get off this topic because it does appear that I am trolling, extremely hard because I dont like anything DB related".
The analogy would only be fitting if a standard blaster bolt covered ~239,000 miles in a few seconds, and then Luke deflected an amped/upgraded/faster blaster bolt from 20' away... Which obviously has never happened.
Raditz dodging Piccolo's charged SBC was explicitly meant to showcase his speed. Hence Piccolo's reaction.

I don't think Carver was making the point you're making.
He just saw the word "fast", and thought "Light speed!"

Ok, the Special Beam Cannon reaching the moon in a few panels is a good argument. I was focused on the inconsistent anime, and forgot you could measure speeds between comic book panels.
So, for the fun of it, lets look at an anime exclusive thing. I'd like opinions on why this doesn't seriously nerf anime Dragon Ball speed:
This is Anilaza, the gestalt robot from the Tournament of Power. It has a trick that allows it to predict where fighters are, and flawlessly counter them.
That trick is "Sonar".
Sonar obviously uses sound waves, pinging then onto an object. Here, we have SSJ God Goku and Super Saiyan Vegeta getting tracked by sound waves.
Does this prove they're only hypersonic level? If not, why not?

All sonar works at the same speeds. The speed of sound.
Ergo, no matter how sensitive those antenna are, they're limited by the amount of time it takes to send a sound wave out at an object, and for it to travel back.

Because fiction makes mistakes and feats take precedence over writer mistakes. (Wally evacuating the city from a nuke being trillions of times ftl despite writer narrative saying it was just short of light speed comes to mind)
A writer once stated Superman flies around at hypersonic to travel space even though he'd never even leave the solar system.
SBP re-arranged planets of the universe at 'lightspeed' despite that being too slow.
Sound and light can just be argued to be that much faster in Dbz than in reality.
Piccolo's moon feat is solid and inarguable. Toriyama even stated the moon's distance from DB earth in an interview and it was the same distance as ours.
Vegeta's final flash possibly left the solar system all together.
If neither of those get us to relativistic/lightspeed in DBZ then that just means they dont know what it is in real terms, just like many comic writers dont.
Doesn't matter, we still take speed as distance over time and that overrides contradictory speed labels that may place things lower or higher than they actually are.
In short, DBZ reached real life high relativistic early on. Labels are irrelevant.

Wow that's crazy! Imagine if the very next opponent eliminated was completely blitzed by Frieza when his whole thing was moving faster than light, and Final Form Frieza could also react to him?
