2 Whitmer kidnap plot suspects found not guilty; mistrial declared for other 2
The historic Gretchen Whitmer kidnap plot case ended with no convictions Friday, delivering a blow to the government as it failed to convince a jury that four militia members were domestic terrorists determined to harm the governor because of her COVID-19 restrictions.
The jury declared two of those men not guilty, but deadlocked on the charges against the other two, who will be retried.

Douglas K. Uhde, the 56-year-old felon who is accused of murdering retired Wisconsin Judge John Roemer in his own home, urged people to vote for Donald Trump and advocated against gun confiscation on Facebook. He also posted graphics that referred to both Hillary Clinton and Janet Reno as a
"*****."
"Make America Great Again, duct tape this lying *****'s mouth shut," read a graphic Uhde shared in October 2016 that showed Hillary Clinton with duct tape over her mouth.
Wisconsin's Attorney General Josh Kaul has said that Uhde was angry about the criminal justice system and court cases. The slain judge sentenced Uhde to six years in prison for armed burglary 17 years ago.
Following failed attempts to negotiate with Douglas K. Uhde, age 56, who was in the home, at approximately 10:17 a.m. the Juneau County Special Tactics and Response Team entered the residence and located retired Judge John Roemer, a 68-year-old male, deceased.
Uhde was located in the basement with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Law enforcement began life-saving measures, and Uhde was transported to a medical facility and remains in critical condition. A firearm was recovered at the scene. This incident appears to be a targeted act.
Screenshots of Uhde's posts can be viewed here. His hit list reportedly included Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, and Senator Mitch McConnell.

Dec 15 (Reuters) - Three men convicted of playing supporting roles in a foiled plot to kidnap the governor of Michigan in 2020 were sentenced to multiple years in prison on Thursday, as two of the conspiracy's ringleaders await sentencing before the end of the month.
Good news, but still wish all these domestic terrorist Trumpers were going to prisons.
All these incidents has me wondering about the protections they supposedly have.
I mean, you imagine this impregnable fortress of feds protecting them, but recent events say not so much.

A Delaware trucker described as a co-leader of the conspiracy to kidnap Michigan's governor was sentenced to more than 19 years in prison Wednesday, a day after an accomplice received 16 years behind bars.
Prosecutors had sought a life sentence for Barry Croft Jr., 47, who was the fourth and final federal defendant to learn his fate. Judge Robert J. Jonker described him as "the idea guy" behind the plot and called him "a very convincing communicator" for people who were open to his views. -snip
It's a shame they couldn't get a much longer sentence, but 19+ years is decent enough.
