They laid the ground work, the DOJ still has to investigate even deeper to build a case where 12 jurors will deliver a guilty verdict over election tampering, coercion and intimidation and who knows what else.
Granted, it would only take one "he's innocent already" Trumper on the jury to rat**** it all. They can always retry with a hung jury though. This is of course if Garland is actually serious about charging Trump, which I'm starting to think he is.
Georgia's prosecutor is also building a case against Trump and several of his allies for their interference in the 2020 GA election, so it's possible Trump could also face a state trial
A federal grand jury has subpoenaed former Trump White House counsel Pat Cipollone in its investigation into the Jan. 6 assault on the U.S. Capitol and efforts to overturn the 2020 election, sources with direct knowledge of the matter told ABC News.
The sources told ABC News that attorneys for Cipollone -- like they did with the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol -- are expected to engage in negotiations around any appearance, while weighing concerns regarding potential claims of executive privilege. -snip
It's the grand jury's job to: 'determine whether or not there is probable cause to believe that one or more persons committed a certain Federal offense within the venue of the district court'.

Honestly, I'm still hesitant in believing an ex president will be indicted, maybe it's the cynic in me, but it's looking more and more like it might actually happen in 2023 or 2024.
Tucker Carlson suggests that the FBI planted the bomb outside the DNC as a false flag:
"But, the truth is there are still questions about the FBI's behavior on and around January 6th. And given what happened in Michigan, where we know beyond question that the FBI tried to create an act of terror, it's fair to ask, 'What exactly did happen on January 6th?'
And why is the FBI still hiding footage, critically, of the person who planted a pipe bomb outside the DNC on January 6th while Kamala Harris was apparently inside, something that she lied about for months. What exactly is going on here?
We're, of course, not alleging anything. We don't know the answer. But we know for a fact, given the FBI's behavior, and we report this with great sadness, over the last several years, it is worth getting to the bottom of this. In fact, we have to if we're going to restore confidence in federal law enforcement."
When pundit hacks masquerading as "news" anchors are just pulling conspiracy theories out of their ass it's pretty clear this country is circling down the drain. Depressing.
A high-ranking member of the far-right Oath Keepers organization who has been charged in connection with the January 6th U.S. Capitol riot exchanged messages in November 2020 with former Trump White House aide Andrew Giuliani about election issues.
That same Oath Keeper member, Kellye SoRelle, also tried to text a White House number on December 20th, according to a new book from Denver Riggleman, a former Republican Congressman from Virginia, and journalist Hunter Walker. That text message went to a White House switchboard line, so it could not be delivered.
The revelation of the text messages adds to a growing web of links between people close to Donald Trump and his advisors and fringe groups charged in connection with the attack on the Capitol on January 6th.
The Justice Department is recommending that Steve Bannon, a former Trump adviser, be sentenced to six months in jail and a $200,000 fine after he defied a subpoena to testify before the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021 Capitol attack. -snip
Slap on the wrist sentence and slap on the wrist fine. Still hope he gets that max for both.
It's gonna be hilarious when Elon Musk has Donald Trump being streamed to Twitter on location from the White House.

Seven things have to happen for you to get your wet dream of Trump being POTUS again and then going on Twitter:
1) Musk has to actually buy Twitter
2) Musk has to allow Trump back on (this one is nigh guaranteed)
3) Trump has to still be eligible to run
4) Trump has to win the 2024 Republican nomination
5) Trump has to beat Biden (or whomever is running on the D ticket) in 2024
7) Trump has to find a way around his contract with Truth Social, as he's not allowed to use Twitter
Anyone of those fail and your wet dream here fails, Trumper
Elon buying it isn't really in dispute, it's the price he's dragging his feet on. The lawsuits are about ensuring he pays up at the agreed amount.
Ergo, Twitter stakeholders are not even trying to get out of selling.

A judge has sentenced former Trump political adviser Steve Bannon to 4 months incarceration and a $6,500 fine for criminal contempt of Congress. The judge says he's prepared to let Bannon remain free while he appeals his convictions as Bannon is unlikely to flee or pose a danger to the community. -snip

Students for Trump Co-Founder Gets 2nd DUI After Attacking DUI Lawyer Candidate
MAGA influencer and Students for Trump co-founder Ryan Fournier has taken shots at a congressional candidate for his legal work representing people accused of drunk driving:
"DUI defender Kevin Hayslett spent 70% of his time as a lawyer was defending those caught driving drunk or high. Is this someone we want in Congress?"
"DUI defender Kevin Hayslett's clients give him a 5-star rating. Many victims are no longer with us to give their ratings."
But while the right-wing youth activist may not think DUI criminal defense attorneys belong in federal office, he may be grateful to have had one such lawyer himself.
Last week, Fournier, 27, appeared in a Guilford County, North Carolina courtroom in connection to a slate of serious traffic offenses, including driving while impaired, aggressive driving, driving to endanger, and fleeing/eluding arrest with a motor vehicle, court records show. The offenses came from a February 2021 traffic stop and arrest where Fournier—who had been charged with a DWI in the same county four months prior—was booked after driving 101 miles an hour.
Fournier has nearly one million Twitter followers and is the co-founder of Turning Point Action. Last year, the other Students For Trump founder, John Lambert, was sentenced to 13 months in prison for masquerading as a lawyer with an Ivy League degree. Fournier, who helped Lambert create the fake law firm, testified against him, in return for avoiding charges.
A Texas man whose ex-wife alerted federal authorities to his participation in the January 6th attack on the U.S. Capitol after recognizing him in pictures of the insurrection has been convicted and faces up to 20 years in prison.
Larry Rendall Brock, 55, was charged with felony obstruction of an official proceeding and five misdemeanors related to trespassing and disorderly conduct. He was convicted Wednesday by Senior U.S. District Judge John D. Bates following a bench trial that started on Monday.
Prosecutors noted that Brock had shared social media posts ahead of January 6th in which he appeared to anticipate violence in the nation's capital. "I prefer insurrection at this point," he wrote on December 27, 2020.
