Judges are citing former President Donald Trump’s rhetoric on election fraud as they deny some accused Capitol rioters bail, saying there’s a risk they’ll commit violent acts in Trump’s name again.
The fanatical Donald Trump supporters who stormed the Capitol in January are facing an unexpected obstacle to their freedom: Trump himself. -snip
Standard business tactics. Pretty sure a president doesn't actually make these decision, and they enjoy first amendment rights the same as anyone else.
And Trump isn't the target here anyways. Microsoft is.
Amazon vs MS, I'd take Gates over Bezos, **** him.

Whilst Bezos bussiness practices are discussing. This is nothing to do with different contractors bidding for a contract. This is about improper influence from a President.
Looks like the target is the contract though. MS has it, Amazon wants it.
They seem to be arguing Trump disliking Bezos personally influenced who got the contract, in an effort to grab it away from MS.
I dunno, sounds flimsy to me, but we'll see what happens.

Trumps head isn't on the chopping block though. No one wants to penalize him for anything.
Unless I misread it, the only thing at stake is the government contract.

He certainly wouldn't want to burn bridges or foster ill will. 😁

I mean there is evidence to support that Trump will personally hold vendettas against corporations while he was in office.
Remember when tweeted out negative comments about Boeing costing so much to build aircraft and what it did to Boeings stock. And Trump has not liked the Boeing for awhile.

Ahead of Trump's narrow 2016 victory, he did not just receive outside support from Russia, he also benefited from illegal assistance from the National Enquirer tabloid and its parent company American Media, Inc.
As of last night, the fallout from the scandal is still being felt:
The tabloid publishing company that paid $150,000 to a former Playboy model in 2016 to suppress her account of an alleged affair with Donald J. Trump, then a presidential candidate, has agreed to pay $187,500 to the Federal Election Commission to settle accusations that the company violated campaign finance law in making the payment.
The commission found that the firm American Media, Inc. and its former chief executive David J. Pecker had "knowingly and willfully" violated campaign laws by secretly routing the $150,000 payment to the former model, Karen McDougal, in coordination with senior officials with the Trump campaign, including Michael D. Cohen, who served as Mr. Trump's personal lawyer at the time.
As Election Day 2016 drew closer, the then-Republican candidate was concerned about how the public might react to revelations that he had multiple alleged extra-marital affairs with women from the adult-entertainment industry. To that end, Trump had his fixer Michael Cohen make an illegal hush-money payment to Stormy Daniels.
Around the same time, the public was also poised to learn about Trump's alleged affair with former Playboy model Karen McDougal. The National Enquirer parent company American Media, Inc. intervened with a "catch and kill" scheme: the supermarket tabloid would buy the rights to McDougal's story and then bury it.
The company ultimately admitted in 2018 that it worked with Trump's campaign—and Michael Cohen in particular—to advance the Republican's candidacy in defiance of federal campaign finance laws. AMI avoided prosecution by cooperating with investigators, but it was nevertheless subject to Federal Election Commission penalties, which came to light yesterday.
187.5k is a slap on the wrist, fine should have been much higher.
But all the "family values" and "Christian values" Trumpers who voted for Trump in 2016 and then again in 2020 already knew Trump was a serial cheater who paid to have sex with prostitutes and porn stars, they just stopped caring while he was running and then president. It became a nonissue.
Good News: Family and Christian values is magically back in play with them now and they're very concerned.
