Agree with u on the 70's.

To add a few to the ones u mentioned. Jaws, Alien, Animal House, Halloween, Close Encounters, The French connection.

It doesn't get much better than that.

That 90s list is also missing some seminal movies from that decade that heavily influenced how the big blockbuster films were developed after them. Jurassic Park and Independence Day for example. They were a technological turning point that transitioned from stuff like Total Recall into far more visually believable effects in a very short period of time.

As much as people say Avatar did a similar thing you have to question whether its new style 3d was really embraced. Certainly doesn't seem to have been. Fewer and fewer movies seem to bother with it probably because 3d TVs didn't catch on.

And don't get me started on The Hobbit and it's absolutely horrible looking high frame rate attempt.
