I've been noticing this perceived degeneration going on for a bit before COVID, since maybe 2018, maybe as my brother seems to think, it's in my head but not real. I hope I am imagining it, but honestly don't think I am. The possible capillary issue isn't clotting exactly either. My RBC's are also tge upper end of normal size and the upper end of normal level for erythrocytes.

I hope you really have been overthinking it, but also hope that doesn't stop you from trying to get to the bottom of this. I say "trying" because if the leads they're investigating now are dead ends, it will probably remain a mystery, open to multiple educated guesses. at least that's been my experience with neurology and imaging.
*edit* not disrespecting neurology, it's just frustrating how limited the diagnostic and surgical capabilities are compared to other medical sciences. I almost had to have a hole drilled into my skull. I mean ffs the ancient Egyptians did that. meanwhile cardiology has sci-fi tech, robots can fix heart and send you home in a couple of days

I've got some free time coming up next month and we are going to use my bupa International insurance in dubai to check it out. I'm going to then pay to see a doc in the uk. Hopefully between the two renowned medical facility nations I'll get some answers Bash, thanks for being interested btw.
