"Death to Pedophiles" QTard Arrested for Child Porn
A Lebanon man is scheduled for trial in December after his arrest on a charge of possession of child pornography.
The tip included an email address and user name, "MartianMassacre Productions," for an Internet user who stored an image of a pre-pubescent girl engaged in intercourse with an adult male, according to a probable cause affidavit filed in Boone Circuit Court.
The task force did some Internet sleuthing and linked Eldon W. Phelps, 25, to the image via his online and phone records, according to the affidavit. Phelps told police when questioned in August they would find more child sexual abuse material on his desktop computer, according to the affidavit.
Tim Ballard—the founder and former head of Operation Underground Railroad, whose heavily-fictionalized exploits were the subject of the film Sound of Freedom—has been sued in Utah's Third District Court by five women accusing him of sexual misconduct.
The suit alleges that Ballard pressured women into going to strip clubs in Salt Lake City with him, supposedly to practice couples ruses, where he would "ingest alcohol and pills" on "OUR's dime with donor monies," even though Ballard is a devout Mormon, and members of the LDS faith are instructed to abstain from alcohol.
The suit alleges that he told the women that if they had to drink alcohol in these situations, Ballard told them to take the drink, and then "kiss him, and spit alcohol into his mouth, and he would spit it out when the traffickers were not looking."
The suit further alleges that Tim Ballard began claiming that President M. Russell Ballard, a powerful figure in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, had "given Ballard permission to do the couples ruse, and had given him a special priesthood blessing as such"; and that "psychic medium" Janet Russon told Ballard that he was "married to the women in a previous life, and so their conduct was appropriate."

So he used donation funds meant to save children to drink, do drugs, party and sexually prey on women, while exaggerating to outright lying about saving exploited children.
It's disheartening when individuals who advocate for "family values" find themselves embroiled in sex scandals. Such situations are a stark reminder that public figures, regardless of their political affiliations, can fall short of the moral standards they champion. It's essential to remember that human behavior is complex, and no one is immune to personal failings. While these scandals can be disappointing, they also highlight the importance of integrity and accountability in public life, regardless of one's political beliefs.
A Beaverton pastor was jailed last week after being accused of inappropriately touching two young girls who were members of his congregation. A Washington County grand jury indicted Christopher Michael Pruitt, 39, on six counts of first-degree sexual abuse and two counts of third-degree sexual abuse Wednesday, October 11th.
Pruitt allegedly touched two girls, one under 14 years old and one under 18 years old, on September 29th in Washington County, according to court documents. In 2017, Pruitt pleaded guilty to public indecency in Multnomah County. He was put on probation for one year for the Class A misdemeanor, according to court records.
A 46-year-old Lewiston man has been arrested for downloading child pornography over the Internet for years, according to law enforcement. Kent Daniel Prestwich was booked Tuesday, October 10th into the Cache County Jail after state agents served a warrant to his home.
According to arrest documents, Prestwich allegedly told investigators he had been viewing child sexual abuse material for approximately 15 years. He also admitted to using specific search terms that he knew would obtain files of children being sexually abused.
Agents with the Utah Attorney General's Office requested Prestwich be held in jail without bail, noting he is a serious danger to himself. They also described how the Lewiston home was "covered in animal feces and garbage, making it difficult to walk through," the arrest affidavit detailed.
Baptist Pastor Gets Up to 23 Years for Making Child Porn
The pastor of a Nashua church is on his way to prison after pleading guilty Thursday to the manufacture and possession of child sex abuse images. Stephen Bates, 48, pleaded guilty to one count of the manufacture of child sex abuse images and 10 counts of possession of such images.
Bates was pastor at the Bible Baptist Church in Nashua. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children told police that someone was downloading child sex abuse images at the church by tracing the IP address. Eventually, a detective posing as a young girl managed to uncover Bates' involvement, prosecutors said.
Bates was sentenced to 10–23 years in prison on the manufacturing charge. He can get two years off the minimum sentence if he completes a sexual offender course.
Three additional men have come forward to say a therapist recommended and paid for by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints touched them inappropriately during counseling sessions related to struggles with their sexuality. The men's statements follow allegations by three others that clinical mental health counselor Scott Owen touched them sexually during therapy.
The three who most recently came forward said their counseling sessions were paid for with money donated by church members to help those in need. The church said it has no process in place to vet the therapists its church leaders recommend. Austin Millet said his therapy sessions in Owen's Provo office quickly turned physical and then sexual with the therapist cuddling with him, kissing him, and groping him.

Anthony Petracca Jr., 67, from Allegheny Township, Blair County faces 31 felony counts of possession of child pornography and one count of criminal use of a communication facility, according to a release sent out by the office of Pennsylvania Attorney General Michelle Henry.
Petracca as of Wednesday was unable to post bail that was set at $25,000. "Bishop Mark Bartchak placed Anthony Petracca on leave from public ministry in July of 2017," according to a statement provided by the diocese. "He has not functioned as a priest since that time," but he has not been defrocked.
Megachurch Pastor Must Pay $2.4M Herpes Settlement
A prominent Houston pastor has been ordered to pay $2.45 million to a woman he gave herpes. After a three-day trial and six-and-a-half hours of deliberation, the jury unanimously found Reverend Ralph D. West, II liable.
"You can't fix it, she's got it for the rest of her life," said Shaun Murphy, an attorney. Murphy spoke for his client, who a jury found contracted genital herpes from West after meeting on Facebook. As seen on the Church Without Walls website, he is listed as the Eldridge Campus Minister.
"The things that we look at for cases like these are essentially four things. Is the defendant infected, and how can we prove it? Did he know he was infected, do we have evidence of that?" said Murphy. He added that he was able to prove those facts, along with evidence showing West lied about having herpes and spreading it.
The Archdiocese of Baltimore has dismissed the Reverend Paschal Morlino, the celebrated "urban monk" of Southwest Baltimore who led Saint Benedict Church for decades, following the recent disclosure that he paid $200,000 to quietly settle allegations of fraud and sexual assault. Morlino's abrupt removal as pastor of Saint Benedict's was announced Saturday to parishioners, and it comes amid an investigation that brought details of the 2018 settlement payment to the attention of archdiocese officials.
The archdiocese's decision to remove the popular Benedictine monk known as "Father Paschal" brings a stunning end to his 39 years as pastor of Saint Benedict. Two days earlier, he granted a wide-ranging, 90-minute interview at the church, declaring he had nothing to hide. Morlino confirmed that five years ago he paid $200,000 to the man who accused him of rape, but denied that he had assaulted or defrauded the man.
The Media Minister at a Mississippi Coast church faces federal charges for distributing and possessing child pornography, court papers say. Cameron "Cam" Cotrill, 66, of Vancleave is jailed without bond pending trial in January. Federal authorities allege he had accessed 9,900 sexually explicit images of children engaged in sex acts on his computer, court records say.
In his decision to deny Cotrill's bond, U.S. District Judge Robert Myers cited the substantial evidence in the case, the lengthy prison sentence Cotrill faces if convicted, safety concerns for the community, his "significant personal wealth," and family ties outside the United States. The judge also noted that authorities determined Cotrill used his extensive computer knowledge to restrict his wife's Internet access to the files.
A pastor from Covington has been arrested and accused of sexually abusing a child at a church, according to Covington police. The investigation began when police received a report of sexual abuse from a child.
An investigation revealed the abuse took place at the Ministerio Jesus Liberta Church in Covington late last month. During the investigation, a pastor of the church, Jose Luis Lopez-Hernandez, 50, was identified as the suspect in the abuse.
Detectives learned during the investigation that Lopez-Hernandez had traveled to California for a missionary trip and was supposed to return late last week but skipped the flight back. Police then filed an arrest warrant for Lopez-Hernandez and requested help from the FBI.
A youth pastor is now staring down prison time after he was found guilty of sexually exploiting a child. Jeffrey Williams was arrested in November of last year for sending sexually explicit material to one of the children who attended his youth group.
He was booked into the El Paso County jail on charges of obscenity and unlawful sexual communication in a position of trust. On October 13th 2023, one year to the day after police began their investigation, Williams was convicted of sexual exploitation of a minor.
Liberty University Fined $37M for Covering-Up Rapes
Liberty University is being fined $37.5 million fine by the U.S. Department of Education for Clery Act violations, following the publication of a leaked report accusing its former president of rape and school officials of destroying the evidence.
The Clery Act is a consumer protection law passed in 1990 requiring colleges and universities to report campus crime data, support victims of violence, and outline policies enacted to improve campus safety, according to the Clery Center.
Officials from the U.S. Department of Education also allege the Lynchburg, Virginia-based university founded by Jerry Falwell, Sr. failed to warn the community about gas leaks, bomb threats, and individuals who have been credibly accused of repeated acts of sexual violence.
A former member of Grace River Community Church in Decatur said Tuesday that he left the church after one of its leaders was arrested and charged with electronic solicitation of a child and violating the Sex Offenders Registration and Community Notification Act. "It seems to me that a background check would've caught this," said Josh Harris, 38, of Decatur. "It blew me away. How did this happen? How did this guy get around my children?"
The defendant is 51-year-old John Justin McCall of Madison and authorities said he was arrested on the charges after a multi-agency investigation, including assistance from the Department of Homeland Security and the Decatur Police Department, that ended with a search of his residence. McCall lists his position with Grace River Community Churchas "worship pastor" since July 2022. His duties included overseeing youth groups and teaching new songs.
Police have not disclosed the nature or date of his prior sex conviction. McCall previously worked for ten years as a "daily singer" at the creationist Ark Encounter attraction in Kentucky.
