Should I have even put Modern Warfare 3's campaign in here? It's really no different than Resident Evil 3's Remake in terms of quality that some said I shouldn't have put in the 2020 Worst Games poll. They're both DLCs rushed into full priced separate titles with a short length story and questionable changes of key moments/characters but still has good gameplay at least, right? When R3make came out, gamers & journos alike were all "it's fine, IT'S FINE" but OG MW2 gets the exact same amount of crunch effort in its MW 23 "revival" and everyone including IGN are calling it a trainwreck. I'm aware RE3 is a tiring argument but the amount of hypocrisy from this gave me whiplash.
While I'd agree this wouldn't be the worst game of the year, doesn't stop it from being a laughingstock. It wasn't enough that TellTale died for the only passable Walking Dead licensed game in part, but every other one such as this, especially this... The production value is not there.
The concept of this game for what-if scenarios of the show would've been a hit like a decade ago. What we got here looks like an early 360 game at best, so I guess it fits in that sense. To make matters worse, some of the models hardly resemble the characters; I barely recognized Rick Grimes, and Shane just basically repeating what Rick said after he died feels lazily slapped together.
Apparently some actors from the early part of the show like Carl's mom and such reprised the roles for their characters in this game, but either they didn't know the state of the game when they signed up for it or they just saw a quick paycheck, or both.
Not even Merle surviving would get me to play this, unfortunately.
