LETHIFOLD (also known as Living Shroud)
M. O. M. Classification : XXXXX (Known wizard killer/ impossible to train or domesticate)
The Lethifold is a mercifully rare creature found solely in tropical climates. It resembles a black cloak perhaps half an inch thick (thicker if it has recently killed and digested a victim) which glides along the ground at night. The Patronus is the only spell known to repel the Lethifold. Since it generally attacks the sleeping, though, its victims rarely have a chance to use any magic against it. Once its prey has been sucessfully suffocated, the Lethifold digests its food there and then in its bed. It then exits the house slightly thicker and fatter than before, leaving no trace of itself or its victim behind.

nearly headless nick said he wouldnt be a ghost but i do hope he comes back.....sirius really needs to come back so harry can escape the dursleys! but i know he cant.....but even tho the mirror is broken theres gotta be something that will happen......ive heard rumors he comes back

Only J.K. Rowling knows for sure if Sirius comes back or not. The reason why it’s sensible to suspect that he may, is that there is no body. Everyone around Harry were quick to point out that Sirius was really dead, but no one explained why it was so final.
The chamber that held the arch-way was called “The room of Death” (or something like that). Who knows what that arch-way is, and why Harry heard whispering. We also know Voldemort, among things, is out to conquer death. So we will most likely see the room again.

I'm positive that Sirius' death will be investigated further in the 6th book at least, even if we don't hear from him. It just came so sudden - Lupin was telling Harry that he's dead and that he can't come back, but it was strange the way that he nor Dumbledore showed much disappointment at his death. One of the thoughts that came to my mind was that maybe this was some sort of plan of the Order's, and that it was made to appear as if Sirius was dead for some reason or other. But I doubt that ... just be sure he's gonna be mentioned a fair bit in the 6th book.

Rosebloom, I am shocked. You said that we shouldn't make assumptions. How many curses, spells, etc are there, and how many colors are there. Just because the spell that hit sirius was red DOESENT mean it was a stunner!

duh!! the spell that "HIT" sirius the color rather was NOT mentioned!!
maybe disapperation?? maybe its a set up so harry will be safe?? we dont know we jus have to wait to find out what is gonna take place!!
now think like this... harry is vulnerable...voldermort knows this..so as a result... dumbledore and everyone in the ORDER make sure that harry thinks sirius is dead but he actually isn't...just for harry safety.
jus a suggestion though

gossip time about sirius's death: K according to j.k.rowling in interview done by enterainment...He is sort of dead. She said that she might bring him back ....REMEMBER MIGHT! and I think killing him off really gets the story going. I believe he is really dead FOR REAL!
