Wow! That's the first word that comes to mind! This movie is SO HUGE compared to the first! Make sure you see this movie if you love Tomb Raider and/or the first one! 6-7 Action Sequences, scaryness at the end, make sure you see it! big grin

I have not seen this movie but i'm 100% sure that it is a great movie. i'm only disappointed by the money it made in it's first weekend. 22 mil is not that much. The reason for this is the so-called critics that think that this is a bad movie. I think they like that it is a combination of JAMES BOND and INDIANA JONES in a woman. This will also not look good to paramount so i doubt that they will make another tomb raider movie. BLAME IT ALL ON THE CRITICS.

Yeh I hate those critics that say that it's a mix between Indiana Jones and James Bond! I mean that's what the game is! I never pay attention to critics, usually when they say the movie is amazing, it's always crap! And when they say it's crap it's usually quite good!

REVIEW

I saw Tomb Raider 2 today and I have to say I was VERY disappointed (although I never really expected anything from it anyway). (NO real spoilers ahead.).

The plot is one of the worst I have ever seen...they seriously just watched "The Mummy" and stole most of the plot from that (there are loads of similarities). Also it is SO CLICHE...another of those 'Save the World' plots that have been done literally a thousand times before.
Throughout the film, Lara makes HUNDREDS of obvious mistakes which supposedly keep the viewer 'on the edge of their seats. Pfff...please?! Yeah... 'I couldn't stop watching it, it was so engrossing' wink (sarcasm).

Also another movie rip off was from "LOTR:TT"....you'll see what I mean when you get near the end.

[SPOILER - highlight to read]: (Hint: Trees+Those big Orc things with clubs - TR2 equivalent is those SHADOW monster things).

WHERE IS THE ORIGINALITY?????????????

Seeing as I live in the UK in London, I was again very annoyed at Angelina Jolie's CHEESY accent, all 'posh english'...I mean STEREOTYPICAL OR WHAT??

No offence to Angelina Jolie (as I've seen the fans that she has on this forum who love to "bask in her beauty"), she can act, its just that she hasn't been given much to work with. The script is bad with many over-used lines blatantly ripped from other films.

The main 'baddie' is pitiful, and being the 'Nobel-Prize winner (in film)' he is I seriously doubt he would be as hard to knock out as Lara makes it seem. laughing out loud

I never read any reviews beforehand as they usually sway my perception of the film..but reading some off rottentomatoes afterwards I agree with the ones that regard this film as a '2nd-rate Indiana Jones clone with added Girlpower'.

Of course this is my OPINION so feel free to pick holes in it, however my arguments aren't shallow with no real point (ironically though, the film is.)
This is another one of the those tired movie cash-ins on a Popular figure.

However...
DO go and see the film if you like repetitive so-called 'action scenes'.
DO go and see the film for the obligatory 'Angelina half-naked scene eek! (don't get excited, it is a 12/PG-13 after all)'.

SCORE: 2/10 (-1 for rubbish accent)

Any comments?

I never liked this as a critic because the character IS Indiana Jones and Bond put together in a female version.
But I havent seen it so. I doubt I'll be disapointed. To big Angelina Jolie fan to be disapointed.

@Kes, Thanks for your reply, but AFAIK, there is NOTHING that says that because she is a Lady she HAS to have a POSH accent.......

(I've never played the game, is there a point in the game where you hear Lara Croft speak??)

I've seen on TV relatives and members of the Royal family/Dukes Duchesses who speak with a common english accent...its just because its and American based-film, and they like to appeal to the American audiences who still percieve British people as having a 'Traditonal ' British accent.
(If the there is an FMV where she has a Posh voice then ignore what I wrote)

Well she did say in an interview that her accent had to be different. And wasn't the guy that directed the 1st british?blink
The queen sounds different. So does Elisabeth Hurley (sp) stick out tongue I personally like it like that.

Lara talks in the original all the time; she has always had a plummy voice.
