[B]Ok, so in the book no5, harry gets grabbed by uncle vernon when he hears the big bang, it says there that uncle vernon was shocked, making it impassible to hold onto harry - what is up with that???? some sort of new magic???

probably sloppy magic....jk rowling said in an interview (cant remember which) that sometimes when a witch or wizard is angry or in danger etc.. they can do magic without a wand but its not very accurate eg. when harry blows up aunt marge (poa) or when he tried to jump over s/t and ended up on the kitchen roof (philosophers stone)
