Gladiator Prequel Talks

Popcorn recently had an interview with Doug Wick producer of Oscar winning 'Gladiator,' the asked him about the possibility of making a prequel to 'Gladiator' he replied "certainly something being discussed, but there's been no decision made. We're looking at lots of options."

Wick was quick to say that the main motivation on any 'Gladiator' follow-up is not going to be money, as it raked in $452m worldwide.

"You don't finally do something like that unless you have a dazzling story to tell. What we certainly won't do is some shadow of the first one to grind out a few bucks."

It is not certain if Russell Crowe would be willing to return and is unlikely to be resolved until a decision is made on whether to make the film at all, but would Wick consider going for it even if Crowe turned it down? He says: "We'd have to think very seriously about that, [Russell has] a lot of voltage on screen."
