New Line Cinema Blacklists Peter Jackson

BOICOT "The Hobbit". Peter Jackson is the man to do it. New Line really sucks.

Sounds like New Line doesn't want to pay Jackson what he is worth.

its unfortunate that things have turned out this way...Jackson made the trilogy so logically he should b the one to make the prequel. i thnk that new line should forget about this and let an amazing story teller make this movie. its gonna b crap w.o Jackson, but i also think hes a greedy bastard...he made over 200 MILLION just directing, not including sales and merchandise stuff, i mean does he REALLY need more? i think hes good...im with DarthRepub., not goin to c it if Jackson is not at the helm

If they change the director for the prequel the film is going to have a completely different spirit to it and, a completely different feel. It's not going to be the same... at all.

This movie will be a tragic flop without Jackson. They don't apreciate the work he did with LOTR. I at least hope Mckellen, Serkis, and Holm will be in it.

i agree with all of you! BUT dont forget that new line have a buckett full of wannabes directors that will try to ripp off the great peter! so they cant affort the luxury of NOT paying the man. So they re gonna crash and burn!!!!

Jackson was obviously made to make Tolkein adaptations. There is no one who could make The Hobbit and actually call it a prequel to LOTR other than Jackson. I will not be seeing a Peter Jacksonless Hobbit.

Just because Jackson won't be involved in The Hobbit doesn't mean that the movie will suck. Don't forget that The Hobbit and LOTR was created by Tolkien, not Jackson, so just becasue the movie will have have a different director does not mean that the story can't be adapted well. Although I believe that Jackson is still the logical (and best) choice, I'm still going to see the movie no matter who directs it.

Rumor has it that Sam Raimi might direct The Hobbit. Maybe that wouldn't be so bad.

Get your facts straight, The Lord of The Rings and The Hobbit (not to mention the entire history of Middle Earth) was conceived by JRR Tolkien, not Peter Jackson. Try reading the books before you go spouting garbage like that. Learn to give credit where credit is due.

i do believe what he was implying is that Jackson is the one who confronted the studios to bring LOTR to the big screen. IDIOT

Let's not forget Phillipa Boyens and Fran Walsh people! They were the ones that brought the literary adaptation to the film. Peter couldn't have done it alone! Peter got the visuals, but Phillipa and Fran wrote the dialogue. If Sam Raimi directs, the film will look great I'm sure. But, if it is not adapted well, the film will not have the same feel and will flop. Not to mention, there are a lot of ringers that are in love with Peter Jackson's vision. New Line is gonna piss a lot of people off if they don't swallow their pride and admit that they goofed on their accounting. Peter took a big risk trying to get these movies made. He literally went into debt before the Fellowship was released into theaters. Bob Shaye should be kissing Peter's ass for grossing $3 billion in profits for New Line. Yeah.....that's right.......$3 billion. And about the comment about "how much money does Peter need?", if I did a job, and was promised $250 million and only got $200 million, I would be pissed! Would YOU like it if someone robbed you of $50 million? Especially a film production entity that saw that amount of money as "chump change"? My question would be,"How much money does New Line need?"

Just make the damned movie already.
