Elijah Wood Talks 'The Hobbit'

Attention Cate Blanchett, Viggo Mortensen, Orlando Bloom, and Sean Astin: You’ve gone “There.” Now get ready to go “Back Again” - at least according to Elijah Wood’s conversations with “Hobbit” maestro Peter Jackson.

“I haven’t spoken to him directly about it [but] I’ve e-mailed him, and as far as I know the two films that they’re doing, one will be ‘The Hobbit’ and another will take place between the 60 years that happened between ‘The Hobbit’ and ‘The Lord of the Rings,’” the once and future Frodo enthused to MTV News, possibly confirming rumors that the second planned film would not be a Part II, but instead a narrative bridge.

since many characters met up for the first time in The fellowship, how are they gonna make a prequel with all those people in it? All different storylines for each individual character? I have to agree with darth drevan: This will be for the die hard fans who like fantasy, lord of the rings, hobbits and dwarfs ...Sounds like milking out a cow for the last drop !

Guys... its not about milking for the last drop or anything - Peter and Del Toro are die hard fans of Tolkien and they want to (while the movie studio is willing to do it) preserve his tales on film the best way possible. ***** Recent interviews with Jackson confirm that he is weaving in some of the history that Tolkein wrote about in the Lord of the Rings. (thank God he's not doing anything from silmarillion or it'd be 6 movies long.) Tolkien concieved "the Hobbit" while in the trenches in world war II. The Lord of the Rings was a fully fleshed out mythology for the britans. A lot of the history built into the Lord of the Rings was not filmed or mentioned in the first 3 films. Peter's vision of this next Hobbit film will be to integrate that history into the timeline -- which will not allow for the story to be fully told with 1 film.
Time to get your facts straight before you whine.

First of all, the hobbits were the only ones that didn't know everyone else. The rest of them knew each other previously. Especially Aragorn, he was a ranger. He traveled everywhere. Gandalf had been around for a while, he knew who everyone was. The eleves live forever, they knew who everyone was. Just because they don't talk about 'old time' doesn't mean that they don't now eachother previous to the events. I don't really think that I would be rekindling a friendship that I had with someone if I was fighting in war. Dumb ass
