Peter Segal To Measure Sandlers 'The Longest Yard'
[Wednesday, February 18th, 2004]Peter Segal (50 First Dates) will next direct Adam Sandler in The Longest Yard, which marks the third time they will team up, according to Variety.
Chris Rock and Snoop Dogg are in talks to star and the rest of the cast is expected to include other music stars and former pro footballers. Sandler was not planning to star but decided to topline last month after reading Sheldon Turner's script.
The original, released in 1974 by Par, starred Burt Reynolds as a retired pro football quarterback sent to prison and forced by a sadistic warden to lead a team of inmates against a team of guards. The remake will be set in present day but retain basic plotlines of the original.
Filming is set to begin in June on The Longest Yard.
