Helmer Found For 'Memoirs Of A Geisha'

An announcement will be made within the week that a director has at long last been set for 'Memoirs of a Geisha', according to MercuryNews.

Reportedly producer Doug Wick says that the adaptation of the 1999 Arthur S. Golden bestseller is to go before the cameras this summer.

'Geisha' was a film Steven Spielberg planned for several years to direct, and after he bowed out, the project was pushed back. Now, with a script by Akiva Goldsman (A Beautiful Mind), we can look forward to seeing "Geisha" as a 2004 release.
